   CVAD CELEBRATES 130/30   
UNT’s College of Visual Arts and Design is celebrating 130 years of teaching art and 30 years as an art school this year! One of the largest art and design schools in the nation, CVAD has a highly ranked fine arts program and notable alumni.
Celebrate rain or shine at the come-and-go event from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at the UNT Art Building. Register now to check out the free open house, alumni career panel, photo booth, Art Annex tour, snacks, scholarship ceremony and more. There will be free parking in Lot 54.

Don’t miss UNT’s Homecoming festivities this week! 
  • Yell Like Hell is at 7 p.m. today at the Coliseum
  • Bonfire begins at 8 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 26, at DATCU Stadium North Lot (rescheduled to Friday if it rains)
  • Spirit Bash starts at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, on the Library Mall with a churro truck and giveaways, followed by the Homecoming concert featuring Leanna Firestone at 8 p.m.
All these spirit events lead up to the Mean Green vs. Memphis football game at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at DATCU Stadium. Join the tailgate fun on The Hill before the kickoff with food, giveaways, games and more! See how to experience Homecoming online if you can’t make it in person.
Speaking of spirit, women’s soccer competes against SMU at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 26, at the Track and Soccer Complex. The first 200 fans there get a free T-shirt! Women’s volleyball plays two matches this weekend at the North Texas Volleyball Center. Claim your free student tickets now.

   DESIGN DOWNTOWN DENTON   
Love spending time on the Denton Square? Do you have any good ideas for ways to improve it? The organizers of the Design Downtown Denton project want your feedback to update Denton’s Downtown Plan. Visit the website and use the interactive map to share your favorite places, ideas you have for the area or any general comments or concerns. 
Organizers are looking for insight related to downtown Denton overall, or about specific things like streets, buildings, parks and open spaces. Submit your input by Monday, Oct. 30, to help them curate the area to better serve you and the Denton community.

In case you missed the news, early voting for the Nov. 7 election began Oct. 23, and UNT is offering a polling station on campus to make it easy for you to participate in our country’s governance. Make time to visit Gateway Center Room 52 during early voting or vote at the location assigned to your precinct on Election Day. Check out the Thank a Teacher program to send your favorite advisor or teacher a nice note acknowledging all that they do. Log in with your EUID and fill out the online forms to thank as many teachers as you want, which are sent after final grades are submitted. Make a professor’s day by sending a thank you note! 
ALOK, a poet, author and comedian
   FINE ARTS SERIES: ALOK   
The Mary Jo & V. Lane Rawlins Fine Arts Series presents ALOK Thursday, Nov. 2, in the University Union Lyceum. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. with a 30-minute comedy and poetry performance followed by a moderated Q&A and book signing. Tickets are free for UNT students but must be reserved ahead of time.
