After 3 years of canceled trips, Willowbrook Middle School returned to Upham Woods this past week for their 15th year of visits. Other groups that visited throughout April included North Crawford Elementary, Cub Scout Pack 377, 4-H State teams, Wingra Montessori, Bay View Montessori, Camp Counselors, Wisconsin Dells High School, and Chainsaw Safety Training.
Upham Woods staff also engaged in opportunities outside of school groups. We trained 2 brand-new naturalists, Rebecca and Hannah. Rebecca shared that her first few weeks have been great, but a lot of walking! Some staff also participated in different professional conferences- the Wisconsin Lakes and Rivers Conference and the National PYD Thrive Academy. At these conferences, staff networked, learned about new ideas, and presented on Upham's work in Accessibility.
Upham Woods is currently hiring for multiple different positions as we work on creating an internal food service program instead of working through an external contractor. We are currently looking for 1 kitchen lead, 2 kitchen assistants, and a custodian. More information can be found on our website!
We're partnering with J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue to bring you this interactive event!
In addition to the pet surrenders there will also be animal ambassadors you can meet and learn about, and a photobooth where you can take your picture with a rescued pet!
Join us this August for Nature’s Navigators STEM Camp! Open to autistic youth in grades 6–12, Nature’s Navigators embraces neurodivergence and the associated unique thinking and learning of autistic youth through flexible teaching strategies.
