Message from Vivian Blumstein
Immediate Past President, WRJ Northeast District It’s not officially winter yet, since I am writing this on December 5, but it certainly feels like it. It has been very cold, and yesterday we had our first snow of the season – which thankfully turned out to be nothing with nothing. If you are looking for warmth, here are a couple of upcoming opportunities for finding it by connecting with your WRJ Northeast District sisters.
The first one takes place on January 11, 2020, when Rabbi Gavi Ruit will be our guest at the Massachusetts / Rhode Island Area Event. Rabbi Ruit will speak to us about “Transforming the Culture of our Congregations and the World in the #MeToo Age.” We seem to read about this topic almost every day in the newspaper; come find out how YOU can help. In addition to hearing Rabbi Ruit speak, we will worship together, enjoy lunch, and connect with other Northeast District women. This event will take place at Temple Beth-El in Providence, RI. You can find the details and schedule here and i cannot wait to see you all there!
In the spring, there will be another opportunity to meet, learn, and connect. The WRJ Fried Women’s Conference (formerly known as the Fried Leadership Conference) will be held in Phoenix, AZ, from April 30 to May 3, 2020. This fabulous conference is intended for ALL Reform Jewish women; not just those interested in leadership. In addition to workshops about leadership, there will be opportunities for growing spiritually, increasing your knowledge of Judaism, and improving your interpersonal skills. Registration is open through April 20, but early bird registration will end on February 26. You can find all the details on the Fried Women’s Conference website.
Let us find light during the dark days of winter by joining together.
I hope to see you in Rhode Island and then in Phoenix.
Warmly (pun intended),
Vivian
