Some 7th graders stayed to thank Mr. Mihara for his lecture.
SCHOOL NOTES FROM MRS. WOODMAN
Dear Families and Friends,
Collections in the Change for Haiti jars are going well. Please continue to support this effort towards purchasing new Haitian Creole books for the school library in Pilette. This week we launch the second phase of our Lenten service project for Haiti. We are collecting school supplies for the children there, which we will include in our parish-to-parish sea container shipment. Thank you for being generous with this project.
Our sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students learned about U.S. internment camps for Japanese Americans during WWII at a presentation this week by acclaimed national speaker, Mr. Sam Mihara. His personal story of his imprisonment as a boy, supported with historical details and photographs of the period, resonated deeply with our students. The experience was a catalyst for thoughtful discussions in history classes. Enriching encounters such as this teach lessons that last a lifetime. We are so fortunate to have hosted Mr. Mihara at Christ the King.
Students will have third quarter report cards in their folders this Friday. Please view, sign, and return them in the envelopes next Monday. Take time to celebrate the learning successes last quarter and encourage good habits through the end of the year.
Please join us next Wednesday, March 28, at 2:00 in the school gym for the annual presentation of the Living Stations by our eighth grade students. This portrayal of Jesus’ passion is a CKS tradition and one of the best ways to begin the Easter season.
Sincerely,

Mrs. Sherry Woodman
Principal

Iowa Assessments will be given April 9-13 for grades K-8 and Cognitive Abilities tests will be given April 16-18 for grades three and six. First grade will also continue on April 16-18. Testing will take place between 8:00-10:30 each day. Please do not schedule any appointments during this time that will cause students to miss a test.
