Due Tomorrow: Student-Submitted Congress Legislation for Nationals

Time is running our for your students to submit original legislation for the 2025 National Tournament docket. Any NSDA member student, no matter their national qualification status, can directly submit their original legislation for the National Speech & Debate Tournament.
Submissions are due by tomorrow, February 5. Consider making this an assignment for your Congress debaters! If selected, students will receive:
- Recognition in Rostrum

An award after the tournament
- A $100 scholarship

The Competition and Rules Leadership Committee will meet on February 11 to hear reports from subcommittees that discussed strategies for making the National Tournament more affordable and simplifying the Honor Society. Review the agenda and share your feedback with Director of Competition and Events Lauren Burdt at lauren.burdt@speechanddebate.org.

Drills and Activities » Our practice collection includes drills and practice activities sourced from coaches and students across the country. Focus in on specific skills like delivery, prep, strategy, memorization, characterization, movement, and more. This is a great tool for peer coaches and independent student learning! Springboard Scrimmages » There are eight more free, online practice this semester with live judges and ballots. These are ideal practice sessions for speech and debate students who want to build their confidence in competing while also receiving real feedback from judges across the nation. Points for Scrimmages » Students may earn up to 75 merit points for intrasquad and intersquad competitions. Coaches will enter these points manually and list the Tournament/Service name as Scrimmage. This is a great way for geographically isolated schools or students with weekend conflicts to earn more points!

Submit Nominations for the Student Leadership Council by February 15
|

Do you have a student who wants to make speech and debate better than ever? Nominate them for the Student Leadership Council (SLC). The SLC creates resources and provides feedback throughout the year to ensure the NSDA is meeting students’ needs. This is a unique way to influence the organization’s future and an excellent addition to any student’s resume. Please nominate a student!
