UW-Madison Extension is launching Aging-Friendly Door County, a seven-part series examining the state of aging-in-place in our community. Topics will include social connection, continuing education, transportation, digital literacy, and home care.

Each session will feature guest speakers, panel discussions, and audience Q&A. Participants will have the opportunity to connect and collaborate, explore topics of interest, learn about local resources, and create their own action plans. From smartphones to artificial intelligence, our ability to utilize technology increasingly impacts our access to vital information, resources, and social connection. This workshop series features an instructional curriculum designed to provide participants with a confident understanding of digital devices, best practices for safe and effective internet use, and how to responsibly interact with others online. The series will also invite guest speakers to demonstrate how technology connects Door County residents to essential services and community organizations. Each workshop will conclude with a group Q&A session, allowing participants to introduce and work through solutions to individual, technological challenges. Collectively, the series aims to improve digital skills, address relevant topics, and optimize the use of technology in Door County. All workshops are free of charge.

We are now offering StrongBodies at the Union Town Hall at 905 County Highway DK in Brussels.  Classes will run September 8 - November 12, Tuesday and Thursday, from 1:00 pm until 2:15 pm.  Get moving and stay healthy designed for older (65+) adults.  Register Here   Suggested class fee $30.

Enrollment for the 2026-2027 4-H will begin on September 2nd.  Be sure to watch after the Fair for information to come out on how to enroll.  Plan to enroll early to make sure you do not miss out on anything!

We have had some interest in starting a Lego project here in Door County.  While we are still in the very beginning planning stages of what that might look like, I am reaching out to ask for donations.  If you are doing some cleaning and would like to donate Legos to Door County 4-H, that would be greatly appreciated!  Please reach out to Candis at candis.dart@wisc.edu or (920)746-2260.  We are especially interested in the classic Lego pieces but would be open to Lego Duplo as well.

Malting barley is a small grain or cereal grass in the barley family (Hordeum vulgare) with varieties specifically for extraction of malt for the beer and brewing industry.
