| Shout out to the Cross Country team! Both the boys and girls teams placed 18th overall at the UNM invite on Saturday and a majority improved their time compared to last year's race on the same course. GO BLUE GRIFFINS!

Congratulations to the Girls Soccer team on their first game and win of the season against the Capital Jaguars—and to Anna Swanson '21 who scored the winning goal in OT! Two days later, the team played the Los Alamos Hilltoppers, one of the tougher teams in the state, where they fought toe to toe and ultimately lost 3-0.
Varsity Volleyball opened their season by hosting the Bosque Bobcats last week. The JV had an impressive showing with a 2-0 defeat, followed by the varsity team who hung on for a thrilling five-set victory! The Middle School Volleyball team also kicked off their season last week with two games against St. Mary's and Hope Christian. Not having many practices under their belts, they struggled a bit, but in true Blue Griffin fashion, played with great heart and big smiles!

| Meet Alexis Miramontes, a seventh grade Breakthrough Santa Fe student! What Alexis loves about Breakthrough is how the program welcomes with so much love. He likes how he is always surrounded with a lot of positive energy; there is nothing better than having his name called during roll call and getting cheered and high-fived by lots of people who really care about him. Alexis initially chose Breakthrough because his older sister Laura is also currently in the program; he remembers how his sister would come home with a big smile on her face every day after being at Breakthrough. When Alexis is not at Breakthrough, he enjoys playing soccer and basketball, as well as playing the guitar and drawing. He especially likes to play videogames that revolve around building things, allowing his creativity to run free. Alexis is really happy that he got accepted into Breakthrough because he knows the program will give him the opportunity to go to the college he wants. Beyond college, Alexis’ goal is to travel across the country and, if possible, around the globe. When he grows up he wants to become an electrical engineer; he hopes to create big things in the future—like robots!

| Grandparents' Day is Tuesday, November 20, 2018! Every year we welcome our Prep grandparents to a special day on campus. Grandparents join us and visit classes with their grandchild, attend a school performance, and have a wonderful lunch in the dining hall.
If you have not already done so, please drop off your Grandparents' Mailing Information Form in the Advancement Office (or email Julia Abbiss) so grandparents will receive their personal invitation on time. Also, please be sure to ask them to mark their calendars now and make any travel reservations needed.
