2018 Annual Meeting

The 2018 Annual Meeting will be held Saturday, Feb. 24. This year’s meeting marks the third annual convening of alumni from across the state. The 2018 meeting will be held in Lebanon at the Wilson County Expo Center and begins at 10:30 a.m.

This year’s keynote speaker is Rutherford County Commissioner Pettus Read. Read’s popular column “Read All About It,” appeared in 55 newspapers across the state of Tennessee for over 40 years, as well as bi-monthly publications “Tennessee Farm Bureau News” and “Tennessee Home and Farm” magazine. He is also the author of the book “Read All About It: A Rural Psychology Primer,” which is highly sought after and proceeds benefit both the 4-H and FFA Foundations. In a special resolution on the Capitol floor, Read was dubbed ‘an amazing apostle of the rural lifestyle’ by the Tennessee Legislature, a quality which he attributes to his years as a 4-H club member.

Entertainment at the annual meeting will be provided by Dr. Jim Byford, who is a National 4-H Hall of Fame member and served as Dean Emeritus of the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences at UT Martin. Byford’s known for his amazing performances of popular Ray Stevens hits and will be delightfully entertaining.

Registration for this years meeting is $25 and includes a luncheon.

Alumni in the News:

Maranda Vandergriff
One of the crowning achievements of Tennessee 4-H is the success of our alumni. With careers all over the map, the alumni of 4-H are making an impact across the state. Maranda Vandergriff is no exception. Vandergriff’s traveling boutique, Vagabondary, was recently featured by WVLT Local 8 news in Knoxville. The Carson-Newman graduate travels around in her 1978 Volkswagen and sells unique pieces. Though most of her inventory features second-hand, vintage finds, Vandergriff also creates one-of-a-kind greeting cards, prints and t-shirts. To see the complete story about Vagabondary, click here.
