(SACRAMENTO, CA) – California State fairgoers are already loving the inaugural Bear Cup Esports Tournament that launched today with the NBA2K and Kings Guard. Visitors love it so much that the Fair wound up adding an additional day of Fortnite today, much to the delight of gamers from across California.
“We’re excited to see so many people enjoying this new experience we’ve worked hard to put together,” said Rick Pickering, Cal Expo General Manager and CEO. “As the interests and hobbies of our fairgoers evolve, so too do our efforts to provide innovative and fun activities for all ages. What gamers experienced this weekend is only a sneak peek at the excitement in store for the rest of the Bear Cup tournament.” See all the details here.
The tournament kicked off Saturday with a bracket of NBA 2K and a meet and greet with industry professionals from the Sacramento Kings associated esports team Kings Guard Gaming. Later in the Fair, people will have the chance to meet and play against esports legends Nairo & GarrettG, and Nevix from the SF Shock, the Bay Area-based esports team.
For more casual players, the Fair will continue to offer free play throughout the duration of the fair now through July 28th to ensure all experience levels can join in on the fun. The full schedule with sign-ups for the tournament can be found here.
