Georgia Rep. Silcox addresses 2020 General Assembly on ‘Top Docs’
The latest edition of the Medical Association of Georgia’s (MAG) ‘Top Docs’ show features Georgia Rep. Deborah Silcox (R-Sandy Springs) – a deputy whip and the secretary of the House Health and Human Services Committee – discussing key health care legislation that will be considered during the state’s 2020 legislative session.

In addition to her whip and House HHS leadership roles, Rep. Silcox is the chairman of the House MARTOC Committee – which oversees MARTA. She also serves on the House Judiciary, Non-Civil Judiciary, Code Revision, Education Appropriations, and State Planning and Community Affairs committees.
The Georgia Ophthalmology Society honored Rep. Silcox as its Legislator of the Year in 2017, while she was one of the Georgia Municipal Association’s Champion of Georgia's Cities in 2018.
Rep. Silcox is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Richard B. Russell Library at The University of Georgia, the Advisory Board for the Chastain Park Conservancy, and the Advisory Council for the Sandy Springs Conservancy. She has also served on the boards of The Junior League of Atlanta, the Atlanta Speech School, and Hands on Georgia – as well as the board of the Georgia Department of Human Resources and the Governor's Commission for Volunteerism and Service.
With degrees from the University of Georgia and the Emory University School of Law, Rep. Silcox practiced law for 10 years.
It is worth noting that her husband, Hal Silcox III, M.D., is a surgeon with Peachtree Orthopedics and a MAG member.
Between downloads and live listeners, ‘Top Docs’ – which won an American Association of Medical Society Executives Profiles of Excellence Award and a Health Information Resource Center Digital Health Awards award in 2019 – has now reached more than 725,000 listeners and viewers, which includes people in all 50 states and more than 80 countries.
‘Top Docs’ is supported with a grant from Alliant Health Solutions in memory of Tom Williams, its former CEO.
