Vitalisms II opened on September 18, inviting viewers to reexamine the value of a painting through 22 paintings by contemporary Chinese artists. The exhibition features predominantly abstract or non-figurative artworks by seven Chinese artists born in the 1980s and 1990s. Visitors can develop their own interpretations rather than look for an explanation of the works.

🗨️ Assistant Arts Professor of Visual Arts Maya Kramer opened her second solo project, In the Time it Takes at Capsule Gallery in Shanghai. The show stems from her 2023 expedition to the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard, and includes a cyanotype-derived fossil wallpaper, clay and plaster "rockbooks," and painted Arctic vistas incised with maps and data. In the Time It Takes is a meditation on human and geological timescales, and a deconstruction of the visual imaginary, visceral experience, and material realities of land/scape in an era of rapid environmental change.
