Stay tuned for our rescheduled opening day soon!

We are excited to be transitioning from preseason prep to opening soon! Our targeted November 20 opening date has been postponed with more information to come soon. This week the weather has started to turn in our favor and our hardworking snowmakers flipped the switch to start blasting snow.

While we won't be on-snow this weekend, we are excited to see most of you have completed all of your pre-season paperwork and are ready to start teaching lessons to our eager guests as soon as the lifts start spinning. For staff who were scheduled for opening weekend, especially our full-time staff, we are going to keep you updated as we hear more about opening day so you're ready to teach.

For those who were planning on picking up uniforms on 11/19 in prep for our postponed opening day, you are still welcome to pick up uniforms this Friday and Saturday. Please see the scheduled times below to stop by the former Admin building above Clock Tower Snow Stars. More details will follow about additional uniform pick-up dates soon.

Friday, 11/19: 1:00-4:00 pm for full-time instructors & trainers

Saturday, 11/20: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm for all part-time

Locker Room Access and Allocation

As restrictions and precautions evolve from last season, we are pleased to welcome you all back to the locker rooms this season! Please take note of the guidelines for each area:

Clock Tower Snow Stars - Cubbies are provided for all full-time staff in the Snow Stars facility. Any unused cubbies may be utilized by part-time staff.

Jackson Gore Snow Stars - Cubbies are provided for all full-time staff in the Snow Stars facility. Any unused cubbies may be utilized by part-time staff. The hallway closet may be used by full-time staff to hang uniforms where necessary. These spaces are for the use of Snow Stars staff only.

Clock Tower Mountain Explorer / Adults - Lockers are provided for all full-time staff and cubbies are available for part-time staff in Wernick House. Part-time staff may be asked to share a locker with another staff member. All lockers will be allocated by a supervisor. Under no circumstance may you occupy a locker that has not been assigned to you. Instructors are expected to provide their own locking mechanism.

Jackson Gore Mountain Explorer / Adults - Lockers are provided for all staff in the Basement of the Round House. Part-time staff may be asked to share a locker with another staff member. All lockers will be allocated by a supervisor. Under no circumstance may you occupy a locker that has not been assigned to you. Instructors are expected to provide their own locking mechanism.

Masks are still required in employee spaces until 11/20. After 11/20, staff-only areas do not require masks (though you may still choose to wear one). As the Snow Stars areas are not staff only, masks will be required in these spaces.

Elective Training Options
Clinic Options:

Beginning Your Season - warm-up and start your season with a skiing or riding focus.
Teaching vs. Presenting – improve your teaching skills on the snow.
Orange Park Verification – get your orange sticker through this education and verification process.
Understanding Level 2 – if PSIA/AASI Level 2 is one of your goals, start the season with a clearer understanding of what you need to do to accomplish certification.
Stance & Alignment – look at the mechanics of skiing or riding through how you stand on your equipment and how equipment affects ski/board performance.

Ongoing Training

We are bringing back the pods!

Green Pod Training - green training is for uncertified people who want to learn how to teach in the beginner and intermediate zone or want to get their PSIA/AASI Level 1 Certification. Sign-up for the whole series with the same trainer!

Blue Pod Training - blue training is for PSIA/AASI Level 1 Certified instructors who want to learn more about the beginner through the advanced zone and are interested in a PSIA/AASI Level 2 Certification.

Black Pod Training - Black training is for PSIA/AASI Level 2 Certified instructors and up who want to learn more about the expert zone and beyond. This includes people who want to be trainers or are interested in becoming educational members of PSIA/AASI.

Milk Runs

Back by popular demand! We want to give you the opportunity to get on snow early on Saturdays to get to know the conditions of the day and warm-up. This is called a milk run. In the early days of ski resorts, the person who brought the jug of fresh milk to the top lodge would get to ski before everyone else! We will be providing this with a trainer from 7:30 am on Saturdays starting January 9, but you must sign up in advance so we know how many people are participating.

Submit Your Proof of Vaccination

As you are brought back to active status for the winter season and receive your onboarding paperwork through EpicEmployee, you will be prompted to submit your proof of vaccination. The submission process should only take 5 minutes and must be done before you join us on-snow. Submissions are being verified and there is a high volume at the moment, so it may take a week or so to go through to final approval. This is common right now. You can submit your proof of vaccination at the top of the EpicEmployee homepage. Please note, this process must be started to remain active with Okemo. If you haven't started the submission process, you will not be able to work and will be separated. If you have started the process, the HR team is working hard to approve your documents and you can continue to work with us until everything is approved. Thanks for your help in this important step toward a safe and successful season.

Fourth Annual EpicPromise Progress Report

The EpicPromise Commitment to Zero team released our fourth annual EpicPromise Progress Report, and what our team was able to accomplish alongside our many devoted partners and mountain communities – especially amid the unprecedented challenges of the past two years – is impressive.

Vail Resorts achieved 85% renewable electricity across our 34 North American resorts. We announced our leadership in the Climate Collaborative Charter—the ski industry’s first unified effort to combat climate change. Additionally, Vail Resorts donated $19.4 million to 150 local nonprofit organizations working to address the top priorities of the communities where we operate. This includes $9.4 million donated products and services to youth organizations and other members of our communities who might not otherwise have access to outdoor recreation. And the EpicPromise Employee Foundation provided $1.72 million in emergency relief grants and scholarships to team members.
