Honoring Hope, Healing, and the Journey Home
June marks National Reunification Month—a time to recognize and celebrate the families who have faced extraordinary challenges and done the hard work to reunite. Reunification is not just an outcome—it’s a testament to perseverance, to growth, and to the belief that families can heal.
At Kansas CASA Association, Inc., we are proud to stand alongside the local CASA programs across our great state that walk this journey with children and families. CASA volunteers advocate in the best interests of children. The work isn't easy. Healing rarely is. But when reunification happens—when a child returns home safely, and a parent is ready—it is powerful and worthy of celebration.
We also recognize the vital roles played by caseworkers, therapists, judges, GALs, foster parents, and countless others who contribute to making reunification possible. It truly takes a village.
This month, I encourage us all to reflect on the stories that don’t always make headlines—the quiet victories, the second chances, the brave steps families take to be together again. That is where CASA’s mission shines.
With gratitude,
Deena Gage
State Director| Kansas CASA Association, Inc.

While the article highlights their local program efforts, it reflects the dedication of all CASA programs across Kansas. From managing records and ensuring compliance to supporting volunteers and securing vital resources—this behind-the-scenes work is what makes it possible for CASA advocates to be a consistent presence in a child’s life, speak up for their best interest, and help them have a voice in court.
