Dear Miami Accountancy Alumni and Friends,
No fear—we haven’t forgotten you, even though it’s summer! Our faculty and staff are enjoying some hard-earned time off, catching up on some ambitious projects that require concentrated time, and tooling up at professional development events. Even with that, we still want to share a few stories with you. I hope you enjoy reading about:
-
Our MAcc graduation ceremony, with exceptional keynotes by alum Dan Perschke and now-alum Bridget Schaber.
- Alum Greg Daugherty and student Nathan Leipheimer, who are both passionate about combining accountancy with the legal profession.
- The many awards our faculty, staff, and students have recently received.
- Some recent publications, including one coauthored with a now-alum who began the project when he was a student.

Soon, we’ll be getting ready to welcome students back and to welcome some new faculty who will be joining us this fall (you’ll read more about them in another newsletter).
Speaking of that, mark your calendars for #MoveInMiami on Thursday, August 21. And I figure there’s no harm in giving you the Accountancy Department page right now, in case you’re busy that day!
In the meantime, we’ll continue to enjoy the quiet of campus and Oxford, and we hope you and yours enjoy a summer that’s all you hope it will be!

With a sharp mind for tax accounting and law, a gift for languages, and a deep interest in technology and cybersecurity, Nathan Leipheimer ’26 is carving out a unique path to law school. An accountancy major with a minor in Spanish (which he completed at a study abroad program in Spain), Nathan is well on his way to earning his Master of Accountancy (MAcc) degree at the end of his senior year, after which he plans to go to law school and eventually build a career in tax law.

Crossing Borders and Disciplines to Make an Impact |
Anastasija Mladenovska ‘26—who was recently named the 2025 Provost’s Student Academic Achievement Awardee—is an accounting major with a global focus. Born in Macedonia, she grew up with a mom who told stories about working in finance and accounting areas of the hospitality and tourism industries. “I loved hearing those stories, but then I thought I’d like to go into a different direction.”
