Festival of Trees November 21 in Apalachicola
The Apalachicola Area Historic Society kicks off the holiday season with their annual Festival of Trees reception on Monday, November 21. Come see fabulous holiday trees created by Apalachicola’s talented artists and creative merchants, being offered for sale by silent auction for just one week beginning with the kickoff gala November 21.  More than 20 local artists and volunteers decorate table-top sized trees that will be available for purchase. 
Christmas Celebration Friday, November 25
The Apalachicola Christmas Celebration will light up the lovely historic town of Apalachicola on Friday, November 25 from 4-8 p.m., the day after Thanksgiving. The streets will be lined with luminaries and filled with holiday spirit. Merchants will be open late and the sounds of carolers will echo through the streets filling the evening with the Christmas spirit. Santa will arrive on a shrimp boat at 4 p.m. at the City Dock on Water Street. Come back the following week on Saturday, December 3 from 10-3 pm for the Holiday Fresh Market in downtown Apalachicola. Buy hand crafted local specialties such as baked goods, artwork, wood carving, pottery, hand knitted goods. 
Carrabelle Holiday on the Harbor December 10
Join the holiday fun on Saturday, December 10 at Carrabelle's Holiday on the Harbor event along Marine Street. The event, which runs from noon till 9 pm, will feature live entertainment, holiday shopping, festival food, holidays treats and goodies and visit with Santa, and fireworks. This event is free to attend and enjoy the festivities. Later in the evening, pull up a chair along the river and enjoy the annual Boat
Holiday Boat Parade of Lights. Parade starts at 6:30 pm at the mouth of the river and proceeds to the Carrabelle Bridge. Watch from any spot along the riverfront.
SGI's Island Lights December 2
Greet Santa when he arrives at St. George Island's Lighthouse Park on Friday, December 2 and enjoy the festive illuminating of holiday lights on the Cape St. George Lighthouse, Visitor Center, and along Franklin Boulevard.  Hot chocolate, cookies, carolers, and Santa’s sleigh full of gifts for the children contribute to the island holiday spirit!  Santa and tree lighting will occur about sunset. Ilse Newell Holiday Concert December 11
On Sunday, December 11, the Ilse Newell Fund for the Performing Arts INconcert series presents the Bay Area Choral Society  at Trinity Episcopal Church in Apalachicola. The performance begins at  4pm with a reception to follow the concert.  Other upcoming Ilse Newell Concerts in January will include concert pianist Ivan Moschuk on Saturday, January 21 and Sunday January 22 and Leon Anderson Jazz Group on Sunday, January 29 featuring Avis Berry.  Unless otherwise noted, all concerts will take place at 4 pm at Trinity Episcopal Church in Apalachicola. Eastpoint Christmas Parade December 9
This annual holiday parade begins at Sellers' Tile Plaza on Hwy 98 and winds its way through Eastpoint along coastal Highway 98. 
Include Oysters in Your Holiday Fare!
Now is the perfect time to enjoy Apalachicola Bay’s famous oysters. Florida oysters are available year round, but harvest really gears up in fall as water temperatures begin to drop. Rio Carrabelle Hosts Music Events
Rio Carrabelle, a nonprofit art exhibit and music venue in Carrabelle, will host Tocamos Mas for an evening of Mambo, Merengue, Bolero and Cha Cha on December 9. Tocamos Mas performs traditional Latin arrangements combining keyboards, congas, timbales, base guitar and vocals. Dancing Optional. Rio Carrabelle is one of the music venues that annually hosts the Ilse Newell Fund for the Performing Arts, Inc  INConcert series.

St. George Light Full Moon Climb December 13
Watch the sun set and full moon rise from the top of the Cape St. George Lighthouse on Tuesday, December 13 from 5:30-7:30 pm. Tickets are $15.00 per person, or $10.00 for St. George Lighthouse Association members, and include light hors d'oeuvres and a sparkling cider toast to the Full Moon.  Click here for more information.
Environmental Workshops
The Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve (ANERR) will host
  a Living Shorelines Workshop on Tuesday, December 6, from 2-4:30 pm. The workshop will discuss living shorelines vs. hardened shorelines. On December 9 ANERR will host workshop to educate visitors about the estuary. Participants will learn about the habitats and creatures that make up our estuary and how the river and bay are intricately connected. On December 21, the Reserve will host a Wednesday program on Bald Eagles with Linda White from 2-3 pm.
Farmers Market December 3, 9 in Apalachicola
This local favorite is held the second and fourth Saturday of each month at the Mill Pond Pavillion at the Scipio Creek Marina in Apalachicola. Features seafood, produce, honey, homemade breads, pies, and other regional specialties offered from 9 am-1pm.

Apalachicola Oyster Cookoff Jan. 13-14
The Apalachicola Oyster Cook-off event is held every year on the Friday and Saturday before Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in downtown Historic Apalachicola at Riverfront Park. This year’s 7th Annual Oyster Cook-Off will be held January 13th and 14th, 2017. The event features a silent auction, oysters galore, shrimp, smoked mullet, hot dogs, hamburgers, local beer, live music, kids’ activities, dancing performances and a 5K run! Enter your best recipe and be a contestant in the oyster cook-off or just come out and enjoy a day of wonderful food, refreshments and music.
