This week’s meeting will focus on one of the most important parts of a strong Rotary club: membership. Pat, Grace, and Deanna will lead three short presentations covering recruiting new members, the role public image plays in attracting people to Rotary, and ideas for identifying and developing prospective member leads. We’ll also talk about how we welcome and onboard new members so they feel connected, engaged, and excited to stay involved. Come ready to listen, share ideas, and help us think about how we can continue to grow Southtowne!

$65 per player includes a drink ticket, golf cart, and range balls.

Member Highlight: Deanna Rivera’s Rotary Story
I ended up in Rotary because of a website.
A friend who was serving as club president asked if I would develop a new website for our Rotary club. It sounded like a straightforward project, but I quickly realized that building a meaningful website was nearly impossible without understanding the organization from the inside. So I started attending meetings, asking questions, and getting to know the members.
Somewhere along the way, something unexpected happened. I fell in love with Rotary.

What I discovered wasn't just a service club. It was a group of people who genuinely cared about making our community and world better. They weren't talking about problems. They were finding solutions. They were giving their time, talents, and resources to help others, and they welcomed me into that mission.
As someone who works in marketing and communications, it was natural for me to become involved with the club's website and public relations. Over the years, I've continued to manage both, helping tell the stories of the incredible work our members are doing. But that's not why I stay. I stay because of what we accomplish together.
Whether we're supporting youth experiencing homelessness, providing scholarships, helping local families through difficult times, or tackling a new community project, I'm constantly reminded that the impact of a group of committed people is so much greater than what any one of us could do alone.
The people are a huge part of it, too. Rotary has introduced me to some of the most generous, thoughtful, and capable people I've ever met. They've become friends, mentors, and teammates, and working alongside them has been one of the greatest rewards of my Rotary journey.
My passion for sharing Rotary's story eventually grew beyond my own club. I served as the district web developer for a couple years, and I'm now in my second year serving as Public Image Chair for Rotary District 5110. It's incredibly rewarding to help clubs across our district showcase their impact and inspire others to get involved. Every great service project deserves to be seen, and every Rotary story has the potential to spark another act of service.
Looking back, it's funny to think that I joined to build a website. What I really found was a community, a purpose, and a reminder that when people with different backgrounds come together around a shared desire to serve, amazing things happen.
The website brought me to Rotary. The people and the service are why I'll keep coming back.
