As previously stated, the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension System (CES) has been exempted from the furlough and salary reduction program and also any budget reductions from the university due to the tuition-based revenue shortfalls the university has anticipated and is experiencing.

Due to the complexities of implementing the salary reduction exemption in the university payroll system, the CES salary reduction exemptions have not been put in place.  Therefore, some CES personnel are experiencing reductions in their paychecks.  The money that is being deducted in this process of managing the internal university payroll and financial systems will be paid back to the employees affected, which we are told is currently scheduled for 25 September.  We will communicate any updates on this as we receive the information.

Also, please note that CES personnel working in locations that do not have direct access to University of Arizona COVID-19 testing sites can utilize testing facilities at alternate sites.  For use of the alternate sites, CES employees will need to pay for the test, use insurance as appropriate, get a receipt, and apply for reimbursement with a disbursement voucher, submitted through their unit’s business office.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and support as we all work through these various challenges.

“The Extension Parking Lot”

Arizona Cooperative Extension maintains regular lines of communication with unit leaders, including all County Extension Directors.  We’re collecting questions from all sources and those that do not have an immediate response or require further clarification or investigation are being documented to communicate.  We are placing this information in the “Extension Parking Lot” for access and review.
