Showtime/MTV Entertainment - Research Assistant Position
Position Overview:
We are looking for a motivated candidate to help conduct a deep dive research project on the MTV Brand, which will ultimately serve to help source and update the MTV Wikipedia Page. This role will involve gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing information from various accredited sources to showcase
recent research on how MTV has evolved from a cable channel to a global content brand. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in finding and sourcing accurate and up-to-date information and research.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct thorough research on MTV brand, focused on its evolu&on from a cable network into a lobal content brand and studio that drives cable, streaming, digital and social.
• Identify and compile relevant information from reputable sources to including:
- Peer reviewed academic journals
- Books released by well-known publishing houses
- Research Reports and Studies
- News articles in mainstream, na&onal publica&ons
- Trade publica&ons with broad audiences
• Analyze research and share back insights and findings with the MTV team members on findings and share detailed sources
• Analyze existingng Wikipedia content to help identify which sources may be applicable to this project
Qualifications:
• Gradates or current students in a graduate program, preferably in media studies who are excited about digging into the evolution of the storied MTV brand
• Ability to access potentially hard to find aticles and research
Timing
• 2–3-month project, ideally from April – May 2024, with potential for longer term
Pay Rate
• $30-50/hour
