Dornsife Student Spotlight: Adriana Rios-Cruz |
Meet Adriana Rios-Cruz, a senior Sociology major with a minor in Education and Society, who is also pursuing a Progressive Degree in Educational Counseling. Adriana’s passion for supporting students is evident through her work as a Dornsife Advising intern, former Resident Assistant with USC Upward Bound, and Peer Mentor with both the Fulfillment Fund and the Latino Education Advancement Foundation (LEAF).Through these roles, she has guided students through academic and personal challenges, connected them with valuable resources, and helped them feel supported and empowered throughout their educational journeys.
Across her various roles, Adriana has mentored students, provided academic support, and advocated for students from historically underserved communities. Her passion for academic advising and student success has inspired her goal of pursuing a career in higher education, with a particular interest in supporting first-generation, transfer, and Latinx students. We are incredibly grateful for Adriana’s contributions and proud to highlight the positive impact she continues to make within the USC community!
Her advice to first-year students: “Ask questions early regarding your academic and career interests. Always stay curious going into USC spaces. Go in with an open mind.”
