If you receive an award from GW or from another entity it's important that you review your award letter to ensure you follow the award's requirements. In particular, you will want to confirm if your award is renewable for multiple years or non-renewable.

The National Consortium for Data Science (NCDS) will host its spring career panel, Analyzing Data Science Careers, on March 5 at 5 PM ET. Gitter Fellowship for Advanced Chinese Language Study |

The David A. Gitter Endowment for Contemporary China Studies seeks to strengthen the understanding and engagement capacity of American scholars and public service-oriented practitioners by supporting a higher degree of language proficiency and developing a cultural understanding of the PRC or Taiwan.

Award Type: $25,000 stipend
Open to: U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents
Basic Eligibility Requirements:
1. China-focused student in the MA in Asian Studies program, joint BA-MA in Asian Studies five-year program, MA in International Affairs program, or MA in Security Studies program (or, on occasion, from a similarly focused GW PhD program)
2. Have intermediate level of proficiency in the Chinese language (3rd year and above)
3. Able to spend a full academic year (9 months) of intensive immersion in one of the leading Chinese language training programs in the PRC (or Taiwan in special circumstances).

The Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Program provides grants to colleges and universities to fund individual doctoral students who conduct research in other countries, in modern foreign languages and area studies (topics focused on Western Europe countries are ineligible) for periods of 6 to 12 months. Students may propose research in multiple countries.
