Boulder Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Community Meeting |
The City of Boulder is exploring the creation of a Downtown Development Authority (DDA), a long-term financing and investment tool that could support redevelopment, economic vitality, public space improvements and multimodal connectivity in Downtown Boulder, the Civic Area and University Hill. Over the past year, city staff and a community Planning Group have refined potential district boundaries and developed a draft Plan of Development. The process is now entering a key phase focused on legal formation, City Council review and a potential voter decision this fall.
Downtown Boulder is hosting an upcoming community meeting to learn more about how a DDA could benefit your business or property, ask questions and share your perspective on the long-term vision for Boulder's core.
Tuesday, June 23, 2026, 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Canyon Theater, 1001 Arapahoe Ave. (enter through the north building). Coffee, juice, and pastries provided. Free 90-minute parking available in the Canyon Lot (1000 Canyon Blvd.) via kiosk or ParkMobile app. Please RSVP.

"Strata Uplift" by David Franklin and Aaron Whelton
Aluminum
Strata Uplift reflects the shifting forces that shape both landscape and culture. It is inspired by the Flatirons, where geological layers record powerful forces of compression, fracture and uplift. Arrays of prismatic chevrons hold and reflect light throughout the day, registering time, weather and motion. They interrupt the expected order while adding another layer to the formations of the city.

East Bookend Development Project Interest Form |
The City of Boulder recently completed a Request for Information (RFI) process for the Civic Area East Bookend to gather ideas and assess market interest in the potential development of city-owned properties in this important Downtown Boulder location. The Civic Area Plan envisions this block as a food and culture hub connected to Boulder Creek, Pearl Street and CU campus. The RFI was an exploratory process, and no development concepts or partnerships will be selected from the responses, instead, the responses inform next steps. An RFP will be released later this year.
For you! As part of that process, developers will be asked to prioritize arts, culture and local businesses as anchors for the area. If you're an arts and culture organization or local business interested in being contacted by potential developers, or would just like updates on the process, complete the interest form.
