Commercial Areas Maintenance Improvements |
|
|
The City of Boulder manages three key commercial districts - CAGID, UHGID and BJAD - where district revenues directly support maintenance, infrastructure upgrades and community enhancements.
Our crews work year-round to keep these areas safe, functional and welcoming. The before-and-after photos below highlight recent projects that improve the visitor experience and showcase the dedication behind maintaining Boulder’s vibrant business districts.

After years of exposure to the elements, the breezeway in the 1100 Spruce Garage had shifted out of alignment. In the photo on the left, you can see the handrail tilting out and the concrete in the center of the platform bowing upward. As part of our 2025 capital investments plan, our team replaced three floors to ensure these platforms are safe and stable for years to come.

After 25 years, the ground-floor exterior doors of the 1500 Pearl Garage were showing their age. Our team replaced the rusted steel doors, refreshing the entrances of the building and creating a more welcoming experience for everyone visiting downtown Boulder.

Downtown Boulder RTD Station Expansion Project Completed |
The City of Boulder and RTD have completed major improvements at the Downtown Boulder Station, the region’s busiest transit hub. On a typical weekday, the station serves more than 1,000 bus trips and 3,000 boardings, connecting riders to neighborhoods across Boulder as well as regional destinations, including Denver International Airport.
The expansion adds new bus gates to meet growing demand, reduce congestion and improve the reliability of both regional and local transit services. Riders will also notice new sidewalks, landscaping, shelters, seating, lighting, and ADA-accessible features that make the station safer, more comfortable and easier to use.
This project is a key step toward Boulder’s transportation, sustainability, equity, resilience, and climate goals. By easing capacity constraints and enhancing the rider experience, the station will support a stronger regional transit network serving Boulder, Denver, Broomfield, Jefferson, Weld, Adams, and beyond. These upgrades make it easier for more people to choose transit for everyday and commuter travel, helping our transportation system work more seamlessly for everyone.

Disaster Preparation Resources |
Disasters and emergencies can affect anyone at any time. It is important that every individual, family, business and organization are prepared to be self-sustaining should an emergency occur. This includes being prepared in your home, workplace and everywhere in between.
Disaster Preparedness Checklist:
| - Register for emergency alerts.
- Sign-up at www.bocoalert.org and/or by downloading and using the ReachWell app.
- Both of these options will get you the same emergency alert information, but in a different format (BOCO Alert comes through text, phone call and e-mail, while ReachWell app delivers the same emergency alert information through a phone app).
- Opt-in to BOCO Info Alerts by texting "BOCOinfo” to 888777.
- This is a text update system that shares information (not alerts) during disasters. Information includes incident status updates, shelter locations, road closures and community resources.
-
Create an evacuation plan – this should include at least two types of transportation you could use, multiple routes you could take, and where you would stay or meet up with loved ones.
- Create a grab list of irreplaceable or critical items that you would want to take with you during an evacuation.
-
Create an emergency kit – this can consist of things like non-perishable food, water, a headlamp, backup battery for a phone, a weather radio, tools, etc. – and is useful during evacuation, power outage, shelter-in-place, or any type of incident.
- Review your insurance policy and ensure you have adequate coverage.
- Make a video or photo inventory of your property and belongings.
- Mitigate your property – for wildfire specific mitigation support utilize the free home assessment programs offered through Wildfire Partners, or Boulder Fire Rescue.
