2020-2021 Yearbook Information
Yearbooks are sold on a pre-sale basis ONLY for $45 each during September 4-25, and, finally, December 2-20.
PURSUANT TO RESALE TAX RULES, YEARBOOKS WILL NOT BE SOLD AT ANY OTHER TIME DURING THE 2020-21 SCHOOL YEAR.
  • Yearbooks can be purchased during the above sales window online through TouchBase.
  • Please plan accordingly as many students who believe they do not want a yearbook during the sale windows at the start of the year feel differently as the school year comes to a close and they are unable to purchase one!
  • As yearbooks are sold on a pre-sale basis, please be reminded that if during the course of the year more than one yearbook is purchased – there will be no refunds. If you purchase two yearbooks, you will be given two books, not one book and a refund for the other.
Class of 2021!
WHS Senior Yearbook Photo Upload Instructions Now Available!
Photo uploads due October 22!

Wingspan wants to make sure that our WHS seniors know that professional photos are not necessary.  We want a photo that follows the main guidelines but anyone can take the photo.
Please view the complete photo upload instructions and details on the Yearbook website found under the Activities tab on the WHS website homepage. Please follow the directions carefully!
If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to email Yearbook Advser Sharon Alder at salder@nsd.org. Ms. Alder is so glad to help. WHS Yearbook is very proud of the Senior Section in the 2019-2020 book. Yearbook worked diligently to ensure every senior was represented and are excited to take care of the Class of 2021 as well if not better.

The Senior Mug pictures will be sent as our first deadline with the Printing company. These pages will be finalized within the first two weeks of November and then we can’t touch them after they are finalized. Yearbook will make every attempt to alert seniors and their parents if we are missing a picture. Please be sure to read emails that have the subject line: Yearbook Senior Info.
We are also going to need a lot of help this year with Student life picture submission. WHS Yearbook wants to make your Senior Yearbook is one that truly tells the story of the year for you. Let me know if there is anything you think we should include in the 2021 book, we love constructive input.
Thank you,
Yearbook Adviser Sharon Alder (salder@nsd.org)

TOUCHBASE: Access to Make Online Payments, View Account Balance & Payment History
TouchBase is a 24-hour a day, 7-day a week web-based application that allows parents/guardians with the ability to make payments online and view their student’s account balance and payment history.
The link to make online payments at TouchBase can be found on the WHS homepage at woodinville.nsd.org under “Resources>Payments”.

Like ParentVUE, where parents/guardians check student grades, usernames and passwords for Leota Middle School and Timbercrest Middle School students remain the same and carry forward to WHS and if a parent/guardian has more than one student, the TouchBase login information will provide access to all of their students’ accounts.

Need a TouchBase username & password?
Usernames and passwords were mailed to all families in August. Parents/Guardians in need of their assigned TouchBase username and password email whsattendance at nsd.org. We are unable to provide the information over the phone.
Access ParentVUE to View Grades/Attendance/Student Details
ParentVUE is a web-based application that provide parents and guardians with information regarding their student via a secure website.
  • ParentVUE allows parents and guardians to view grades including grades for specific assignments. Please consult with your students’ teacher(s) for more information on the specific reports they post.
  • Students access their information via StudentVUE, a separate web-based application, and are provided with their own username and password. Parents/Guardians must not share their login information to their ParentVue account with their student, as ParentVUE accounts afford parents/guardians with the ability to change their demographic and contact information.
The link to ParentVUE can be found on the WHS homepage at woodinville.nsd.org under “Resources”. Parents and guardians are provided with an Activation Key to then establish their username and password. If a parent/guardian has more than one student, this login information will provide access to all of their students throughout NSD. Usernames and passwords for Leota Middle School and Timbercrest Middle School students remain the same and carry forward to Woodinville High School.
Where do parents/guardians new to WHS obtain their ParentVUE Activation Key?
If you do not have a ParentVUE account, you can request an account and activation code here: https://form.jotform.com/200321140182132.
Forgot your ParentVUE username and password?
Once a parent/guardian establishes a username and password, WHS does not have access to it.  If lost, parents/guardians should follow the prompts on the ParentVUE site to recover it.
Questions? Contact Attendance Secretary and WHS Online Parent Resource Coordinator Kim Benedict at whsattendance@nsd.org.

Great news! Seniors Isabella Bueno, Ethan Kam, Benjamin Sehmel, Elliot Smith, and Aria Yang have received recognition as National Merit Semifinalists in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program and will now be considered for National Merit Finalist status!

WHS Welcome Back Assembly
WHS ASB kick off the school year with a Welcome Back Assembly video played for our students last Friday the 4th during Advisory! Music students performed the National Anthem, yearlong class competitions were announced and conversations continued regarding racial and social justice. The video provided an opportunity to keep kids connected to school while building our Falcon culture even while remote.
As ASB President Tina Zhang expressed, there is no doubt this is a school year of firsts.  Our “One Falcon, One Family” will take on and work through the challanges of distance learning together!

Printed Name Verification
Diplomas & Commencement Program!

Seniors need to accomplish this task by October 15!
1. Please have your senior check their name/s they see printed on their high school transcript that was distributed at Falcon & Distribution Day (9/10 & 9/11, Make-Up Day 9/16). Their name/s reflect what we have in our student information system. It will show their legal name first and then their preferred/nickname underneath if they have gone by another name.

2. Verify that all spelling, capitalization, and punctuation are correct or if corrections need to be made.

3. Fill out the WHS Class of 2021 Printed Name Verification Google form completely https://forms.gle/6pjd5rHmC1qL3o2Q6 to indicate exactly how their name should be printed on their diploma and in the Commencement Program for graduation. If name changes are needed, documentation will need to be provided to Mrs. Porter at rporter2@nsd.org.

4. This process is for name verification only with the submission/questions to Mrs. Porter at rporter2@nsd.org as noted on the Google form. Any questions regarding your transcript with relation to credits/grades should be submitted to your counselor.

Optional Student Insurance
As a service, NSD is providing information regarding optional student accident and health insurance coverage administered by Myers-Stevens & Toohey, Inc. These low cost plans are distributed by many districts across Washington. Although they are not the only provider of this type of coverage, they have been recommended by our Washington Schools Risk Management Pool.

Students in need of financial support? Please contact your school counselor
WHS counselors have access to community resources to support families who could use a grocery card, help with school fees/supplies or other basic needs.  Please contact your School Counselor if they can help during this challenging time.  There is no qualifying factor and is confidential. Please don't hesitate to ask.

Distance Learning Attendance

Student attendance is taken every class period during Distance Learning.
  • Teachers will be taking attendance during each period.
  • Students are required to attend the entire live Zoom lessons for each period to be considered present.
  • If a student is unable to attend the live zoom, a parent needs to contact the Attendance Office via email at whsattendance@nsd.org to excuse their student from class. The student needs to follow up with their teacher via email, zoom, Schoology, etc. to receive the work they missed.
  • If a student was marked absent in error, they need to reach out to the teacher of record to request the absence to be cleared.

PSAT/NMSQT UPDATE

Each year in the Northshore School District, high schools administer the PSAT to 10th and 11th graders (and a very few 9th graders who opt in) in October. This year, as you may expect, is very different due to the ongoing pandemic.
As of September 1st, the College Board is not offering an online PSAT and is still requiring on-site, in person testing which is not conducive with our current NSD 3.0 Modified Stage 2 Learning Model. In communicating the situation with the College Board, they recently gave us this information: “We understand many schools are utilizing virtual instruction options and that plans continue to evolve this fall. For schools that are unable to administer the PSAT/NMSQT in October, College Board will also be offering the PSAT/NMSQT this winter, which will be used for programs administered by National Merit Scholarship Corporation. You'll receive another email with more details by the end of the month.
Once more is known about the Winter Administration of the PSAT, we will advise. PSAT information is posted on the WHS website under Academics, Assessments.
