Dear Parents and Families,
Let me share an enthusiastic welcome to the NYU community! We are very happy to have you with us. I can just imagine the feelings of pride and excitement, perhaps mixed with some apprehension, that you may be experiencing as you prepare to send your student off to begin their NYU journey. Whether or not you’ve been through this before, the transition to college is always a momentous event for students and their families.
You've successfully guided this remarkable individual to this point in their life... now what? Well, your student still needs you, albeit in different ways. As parents and family members, you will play an important role in the life of your college student, and working together, we can support your student's growth and success. Indeed, similar to the roles you play, we strive to strike a similar healthy balance with students by providing resources to help them make informed decisions, while standing ready to step in and provide additional support as necessary.
- Share insight into today’s college student experience;
- Equip you with the information to serve as a guide for your student; and
- Provide opportunities to engage, connect, and contribute as members of the NYU community.
As you prepare for this monumental transition, we are excited to send you your first Parents & Families newsletter, created specifically for new parents and families. This newsletter highlights a number of upcoming events including our New Student Send-Off receptions and our inaugural New Parents & Families Webinar series. Additionally, you can find important resources and an update on our student communications and
NYU Welcome programs.
If you have another family member who should also receive newsletters and important updates, please have them join our
Parents & Families email list.
I look forward to working with you throughout your student's time at NYU. On behalf of all of my colleagues here at NYU: congratulations and welcome to the NYU family!
