The leaves are beginning to drift to the ground and Fall is starting to take shape here in the nation's capital. It’s hard to believe that it is already the month of October. Hopefully, your student’s first month of classes have gone well. Below you will find a compilation of this week's news and updates.
We have received a few inquiries from families looking for information about the spring semester. We continue to gather information about the current spread of the virus and projections about its trajectory—both in the D.C. region and nationally—and how these factors and any local government limitations will affect our operations next semester. We expect to provide an update on spring planning in mid-October.
If you were forwarded this message from a GW family member, please feel free to subscribe to our GW Families Listserv to receive important news and updates directly.
Hope you and your family continue to stay healthy and well.

Important Reminders on Flu Shots
As we continue to work hard to keep our GW community safe, we want to remind everyone that the seasonal influenza virus and the virus that causes COVID-19 will both likely be circulating this fall and winter. We do not know very much about how the two viruses interact, but we do know that both have the potential to cause serious illness or death. Accordingly, we are requiring our on-campus cohort to receive the flu vaccine this year and strongly encourage all members of our community to do the same. If your student is a member of the on-campus cohort, they received information via email yesterday about where to go on campus for their flu shot starting Oct. 5.
Students who are not approved for campus access may use their university-sponsored medical plan to receive a flu shot from primary care physicians, area pharmacies and convenience/urgent care clinics, usually at no cost. For students who are not covered by a university-sponsored medical plan, you should verify costs with your health insurance company. Most plans will cover the full cost of seasonal flu shots.
