Finding Hope Through Audio-Reader |
|
|
When longtime Kansan and Vietnam veteran Robert retired, vision loss and depression made daily life difficult, until he discovered Audio-Reader. Through the stories he heard, he found comfort, connection, and a renewed sense of purpose. Now, at 80 years old, Robert has even written his own book about growing up in rural Kansas and partnered with Audio-Reader to help launch it.
Your support makes stories like Robert’s possible. Helping listeners find joy, companionship, and hope with the gift of sight through sound.

Audio-Reader Celebrates 54 Years of Service |
On October 11, Audio-Reader celebrated 54 years of serving listeners with access to news, information and entertainment. We're proud to continue our mission of providing independence and connection to listeners across Kansas, Missouri and beyond - thanks to the incredible support of our volunteers, donors and listeners.
We marked the milestone with cake, Beep Ball demonstrations (we're excited to now have a few Beep Balls of our own!) and great conversation about vision loss awareness and etiquette. The celebration wrapped up on a high note with a special serenade from the barbershop quartet Radio Days of SmorgasChorus. Click on the video to enjoy their birthday tune!

September Audio Sale a Great Success |
Our September Audio Sale was a hit! Thanks to the incredible support of our volunteers, donors, and shoppers, we raised over $12,000, including several sales made even after the event wrapped up.
This year’s sale was held outside for the first time, but that didn’t slow anyone down. A long line of eager shoppers waited to enter when the sale began on Saturday morning, September 13, and was steady throughout the entire day.
A special thank you to the Lawrence Public Library, our wonderful partner in making this event possible. And to all of our volunteers and supporters - your hard work and enthusiasm continue to make these Audio Sales some of our most anticipated events of the year!
