| The Power of Indigenous Language in Contemporary Art On view at the Zuccaire Gallery, Staller Center now through November 22. Weaving Words, Weaving Worlds brings together the powerful connection between Indigenous languages and contemporary art. The group exhibition highlights the significance of language revitalization and cultural preservation through the creative expressions of Shinnecock and nation-wide Indigenous artists through traditional and new media. 2nd Annual NYS Digital Equity Network Conference On Tuesday, August 5, the NYS Digital Equity Network (NYSDEN), in collaboration with The Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT), will host a full-day event bringing together digital equity leaders from across New York. The Annual Convening unites practitioners, policymakers, funders and grassroots groups to explore bold solutions for expanding digital access. CommUniversity Day Registration, Appliance Donations & LEGO Competition
The Stony Brook University and Stony Brook Medicine community is invited to take part in CommUniversity Day 2025, scheduled for Saturday, September 27. This annual, festival-style event is free and open to the public and will be held from 12-4 pm on the Academic Mall, with an indoor rain plan in place for the same day in the Stony Brook Arena.

Preserving a Piece of History: Windmill Restoration Begins On July 24, the sails of the historic windmill on the Stony Brook Southampton campus were carefully removed and safely stored as part of the first phase of a multi-stage restoration project. This important work will help preserve this cherished landmark for future generations.
Camp Speak. Dream. Live. July 28 - August 1 at Stony Brook Southampton. Graduate students in Stony Brook Southampton’s M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology program had a unique opportunity to observe and support children and teens who stutter during Camp Dream. Speak. Live. – a week-long confidence-building program held in partnership with The Arthur M. Blank Center for Stuttering Education and Research. As part of their coursework, the graduate students engaged with campers during interactive workshops and a final talent show that celebrated each child’s voice. Led by Clinical Assistant Professor Joy Kling, this first-of-its-kind program in New York offered hands-on experience in building communication skills while helping to reduce the stigma around stuttering.
