Dear Colleagues:
At Ball State University, we continue to engage with current and future students on virtual platforms this Summer, and we are preparing our campus to resume almost all of our traditional teaching, learning, and co-curricular experiences this Fall.
As our talented faculty teach Summer courses online, we are honoring our commitment to give our incoming freshmen a successful start to their college careers. We have found creative, innovative strategies to conduct our Summer orientation virtually this year, and we also offer a variety of online engagement opportunities for the families of new freshmen.
Last week, our Board of Trustees approved plans to resume on-campus classes on August 24, as scheduled. We will provide a premier educational experience while we implement several protocols grounded in our paramount priority—the health and safety of our students, our faculty and staff, and our campus visitors. Many students have told us that they value the personal educational experiences that we provide at Ball State University, where faculty and students are learning partners, no matter the challenges. I am confident that we are taking the necessary precautions to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and neutralize the harm that the disease can inflict, particularly upon vulnerable people. Ball State remains focused on our vital mission: to empower our students to have fulfilling careers and meaningful lives and to enhance the vitality of the communities that we serve. As we plan for the next academic year, we will honor our enduring values—especially innovation and courage—while embracing these unprecedented challenges with abiding optimism in a brighter future.
