Tuesday, March 16: Talon Time Advisory by scheduled meeting, 1:25-1:55 p.m.
ALL students can schedule to meet with their advisor or advisors can request and schedule students to meet from 1:25-1:55 p.m. for support.
- Advisors will provide Zoom links for their students who schedule to meet or are scheduled by advisors to meet.
The only students who will be marked absent from Advisory Friday the 12th are:
- Students who schedule to meet with their advisor and do not show; or
- Students scheduled by an advisor to meet and do not show
Friday, March 19: Talon Time Advisory - ASB Activity for Grades 9, 10, & 11 and by scheduled meeting for Grade 12, 1:25-1:55 p.m.
For Advisory on Friday, Grades 9, 10, & 11 MUST ATTEND for an ASB Activity. Students in Grade 12 can schedule to meet with their advisor or advisors can request and schedule 12th-grade students to meet from 1:25-1:55 p.m. for support.
- Advisors will provide Zoom links through Schoology for grades 9, 10, and 11 and for seniors in grade 12 who schedule to meet or are scheduled by advisors to meet.
- The ASB Elections Committee will present speeches for grades 9, 10, and 11 and open the polls for the Executive Board 2021-22 election. Voting will end on Monday, March 22nd, and winners will be announced on Tuesday, March 23rd
- Students in grades 9, 10, & 11 will be marked absent if not in attendance. Only the seniors in Grade 12 who schedule to meet or are scheduled to meet by an advisor and do not show will be marked absent.

Delivery of WHS Class of 2021 "We Love You" Yard Signs began Saturday, March 6!
WHS ASB, administration, faculty, and staff are glad to hear the positive feedback that the signs are welcome additions to our seniors' yards!
The WHS Junior class designed the sign and organized the distribution to show their love for the class of 2021. Please know that there are a lot of signs to be delivered and most of them are being delivered by students. We are hoping each senior had a sign by Sunday, March 7.
If you did not receive one by the end of the day Monday, March 8, please email WHS Activities Director Kurt Melton at kmelton@nsd.org and he will arrange for one to be delivered to your senior.

WHS Drama Boosters Seattle Goodwill Donation Drive, March 14 9am-12pm
The Woodinville Drama Boosters are partnering with Goodwill to offer families a serious spring-cleaning opportunity while raising money to support the amazing Theatre program at WHS.
Drop off at WHS Parking Lot on NE 195th St between the football and baseball fields.
Note: No furniture larger than an end table can be accepted.
All e-waste that can’t be sold will be e-cycled. Clothing and shores should be in their own bags/boxes.

If you have received notification that your student did NOT submit their WHS registration for the 2021-22 School Year - please make sure to submit your worksheet in Schoology and connect with your counselor about getting registered.
Over the next few weeks, counselors will be reviewing your submissions and looking at your graduation requirements to make sure you are staying on track.

0 = You have NOT checked off 14 boxes and/or your worksheet was not submitted properly
1 = You have checked off 14 boxes on your worksheet and successfully submitted your worksheet
2 = Your counselor has reviewed your submissions and has confirmed your registration for the 2021-22 school year.

Are you interested in Running Start?
If you’re interested in Running Start, you will need to meet with your counselor before meeting with Ms. Gerlinger. Please complete the following steps before setting up an appointment with your current counselor.
- Download the WHS Running Start packet on the WHS website
- Check out the application process for Running Start at the community college of your choice.
- Complete the Accuplacer testing for confirmation that you qualify for Running Start in both English and Math.

The District also uses email as a tool for sharing important, and sometimes urgent, information with families. Automated phone calls are sent to families with safety and emergency messages.

Follow NSD Reopening Plan & Safety Protocols
The following plan was developed by District staff in preparation for a return to school and District buildings when it is safe to do so. The information in this handbook is intended to help everyone understand required safety protocols and know what to expect for every student and staff member. As the pandemic data and state response continue to evolve, District staff will continue to review, refine, and adjust this plan as needed. We remain grateful for their efforts.
The return to in-person learning will be most successful and have the best chance to be sustainable if we are all prepared and working together. We ask that you familiarize yourself and your students with the following health department protocols and CDC requirements.

WHS Qualifies 42 for International DECA Competition
This past weekend the awards/qualifiers were announced at the Washington DECA Career Development Conference (competition) to compete at the International DECA Career Development Conference in April. We had students competing in 28 different events. Each of the events had 60-70 competitors from WA State high schools.
For the event, students were given scenarios (based on event category) to solve a problem for a business. This year the students created their solution and recorded their presentation for judges to view. In addition, the students take a 60-minute, 100 question multiple choice test on business and marketing principles.
WHS had 42 students in 20 different events qualify for the International Competition. In addition, we had 7 additional finalists who just missed qualifying. Please congratulate the students below:

NHS Final Hours Submission
All final hours for National Honor Society members are due by 11:59 p.m. on March 26th, 2021. Students will upload documentation of at least 20 service hours total to the assignment on the NHS Schoology page. Please remember to submit ALL service hours for the year, including a resubmission of the hours submitted at the November check.
Students who do not upload their final hours or did not meet requirements from the November check will not be considered for admission into National Honor Society for the 2021-2022 school year. (Yes, students are being inducted into NHS for next year.) Details will follow about the induction ceremony that will take place on May 20, 2021.
Students can view their "grade" on the NHS Schoology to check that they have met requirements for the year so far. There is no appeal process for not turning hours in on time or a cumulative GPA below 3.5.

Does Your Student Owe Fines or Fees?
Pursuant to NSD guidelines, notifications are mailed to homes at the end of each quarterly grading period. The fine and outstanding fee ledgers will be sent out to homes the week of February 8th. Fines and fees can always be viewed and paid online 24-hours a day through TouchBase, using your NSD generated log in information that has been given to you.

Northshore Speaks
Students, do you want to share your voice? The Northshore School District is hosting Northshore Speaks at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 29 for students and staff to share their own spoken word poetry.
Original spoken word poems submitted to Flipgrid before the end of day on Sunday, April 18, 2021 will be considered for the 2021 Northshore Speaks event. Northshore students and staff should log in to Flipgrid using their Northshore School District account. If an entry is selected, District Communications staff will connect directly with the student and their family, or the staff member. If you are a student, be sure to have your parent/guardian complete the Northshore Speaks participation form.

Power or Internet Outage -
What To Do
We understand that weather incidents may cause a loss of power when students and staff are engaged in distance learning. Our district's Technology, Northshore Learns, and Communications teams collaborated with educators to develop a plan for notifications about power outages, access to service, and how everyone can prepare ahead of time to adjust and continue learning. Building Our Falcon Community this School Year!
We are so excited for our students to join all the exciting clubs Woodinville has to offer. Here at WHS, students will find clubs ranging from a wide variety of interests, and WHS ASB has a lot in store for students to meet all these different clubs.

New E-Flyer Platform - Peachjar
We are excited to share that we have moved our e-flyer program to a platform called Peachjar. We receive many requests from local non-profit organizations to distribute program fliers. Peachjar will help facilitate the process of submitting, reviewing, approving and posting e-flyers. With the move to this platform, all e-flyers that are submitted to Peachjar will then be reviewed and approved by District staff to ensure that they meet the District guidelines. We are committed to providing access to all individuals seeking information on our District website. All submitted PDFs must meet accessibility requirements to be approved for distribution. We also encourage organizations to submit flyers in the top five languages spoken in our district.

Washington's K-12 Internet Access Program: Check Eligibility for Free Internet Access
Having reliable connectivity to the internet is critical for your student’s success during distance learning. The state recognizes this need, and has partnered with Ziply Fiber and Comcast/Xfinity to create Washington’s K–12 Internet Access Program, which gives eligible families free internet access so your student can connect to online learning from home.
This internet access opportunity will provide you with faster, stronger and more reliable connectivity than hotspots or tethering to mobile devices, which will better support your student. If eligible, your free internet access is available through June 30, 2021.

2020-21 ATHLETICS REGISTRATION
FinalForms registration is still OPEN for Season 2 (winter) and Season 3 (spring) sports. Registration closes for gymnastics on Monday, March 29, and other Season 2 (winter) sports on Monday, April 5. Registration will remain open for Season 3 (spring) sports until Monday, May 3.
Required PRIOR to Participation in Athletics
To participate in athletics, a FinalForms registration must be completed by both parent and student and a current sports physical must be on file with the WHS Athletic Office. Sports physicals are good for two years from the exam date.

School Lunch Information
NSD is offering free meals for all children ages 18 and younger.
Students do not need to be enrolled in the Northshore School District to receive meals. NSD requires that all families wear a mask and maintain physical distancing when picking up their meals. Thank you for helping to keep our drivers and families safe.

InvestED is a 501 (c) (3) organization that provides funding to support the efforts of secondary schools throughout Washington State. They partner with 660 schools and assist more than 16,500 students with small amounts of short-term, item-specific, need-based funding – items such as shoes, coats, glasses, sports equipment, and academic fees. Their mission is to provide immediate help for students in need. Their goal is to encourage students to stay in school, return to school, or get involved within their learning community.

Apply for Free & Reduced Price Meals Today!
While Northshore is currently providing free meals, this support is made possible by temporary USDA funding. If this funding changes, the District may be required to charge families based on their current eligibility for meals. Have you applied for free and reduced-price meals this year?
If your family qualified last year, you need to reapply this year to ensure that your student receives free or reduced price meals once the current free meals program ends. It is important to apply today so that your eligibility status doesn’t lapse. If an application was not in process for a returning student by October 14, 2020, the student’s account was automatically transferred to a paid account the next school day. Please know that the number of eligible students for free and reduced price meals connects to the District’s Title I funding, which provides additional support at schools to help students succeed. Additionally, if your family income has decreased, you may be eligible for free or reduced-price school meals.
