Doctoral Education Program: Spring Application Open |
Have you been wanting to pursue furthering your education, but haven’t had the opportunity to for one reason or another? Texas A&M University offers a program to help eliminate one of the major barriers people face: funding. Full-time budgeted employees at all Texas A&M University System universities, agencies and offices are qualified for payment or reimbursement of tuition and mandatory fees. The spring application period runs through Tuesday, Jan. 2.

Employee Learning Week 2023 |
Texas A&M is joining the Association for Talent Development’s Employee Learning Week Dec. 4–8. As the world’s largest association dedicated to those who develop talent in organizations, this annual weeklong event is designed to highlight the importance of employee learning and development.
The Organizational Development team will offer four courses multiple times during the week: Myers-Briggs: Understanding and Working with Personality Type, The 6 Types of Working Genius, Crucial Conversations and Getting Things Done.

January Hiring Offers
For all hiring offers with a Jan. 1 start date, offer letters need to be accepted and sent to your department’s HROE professional no later than Monday, Dec. 11. Offers extended after Dec. 11 must use the next available start date, which is Jan. 8. With the university’s closure for the winter break through Jan. 1, new hires will complete their onboarding on Tuesday, Jan. 2. Please communicate with your HROE professional to ensure the hiring manager and the candidate are aware of the necessary tasks and paperwork that need to be finished to ensure a smooth onboarding experience. Spring Faculty and Graduate Assistant Appointments
The start of the new spring 2024 semester is a great time to review faculty and graduate assistant appointments to ensure all appointments for the spring are entered into Workday correctly. Processing timely appointment changes will ensure proper payroll processing and enrollment into insurance plan(s) are handled correctly. If student workers will not be returning in the spring, the position can be eliminated. Contact your department’s HROE professional with any questions.
Register for Managers’ Minutes
Register now to attend the Dec. 7 Managers’ Minutes, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Held every other Thursday via Zoom, managers are encouraged to join in live presentations and discussions, provide feedback on future topics and review recordings of previously hosted meetings. There will only be one session in December due to Winter Break. Deep dive in-person meetings will resume in January.

The State of the University address will be hosted on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at 10 a.m. General (Ret.) Mark A. Welsh III, interim president, will share highlights from the last academic year and look ahead at efforts on the horizon. Coffee and networking will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Rudder Theatre Complex. If you plan to attend in-person, please remember to RSVP by Nov. 27.
Required Employee Notices and Important Reminders
Employees should be aware of federal and state laws, university rules and standard administrative procedures, and The Texas A&M University System policies and regulations that affect them in the workplace. Employees should reference these important notices on a regular basis.
Free Employee Financial Consultations
On Nov. 29-30, the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America (TIAA) will provide individual in-person employee financial consultations on campus in College Station. Register for an appointment with TIAA.
Campus Closed Nov. 23-24
Many campuses and locations throughout the Texas A&M System will be closed Nov. 23-24 as an official university holiday for Thanksgiving. However, some campuses and locations follow alternative schedules, which are posted online.

Workday allows employees to upload a photo of themselves to help colleagues across the university identify them. When selecting a photo, please ensure it is appropriate for the workplace, such as a recent professional or personal headshot of the employee only, preferably on a plain background. Update your profile photo by following the online step by step guide. The request will be routed to your manager for approval. If you have questions, please email hrnetwork@tamu.edu.

Campus leadership has appointed a multifunctional committee to reevaluate the common hire dates and onboarding experience. Members will be working throughout November and December to deliver recommendations to Interim President Mark A. Welsh III no later than Jan. 15, 2024. Stakeholders will be sharing information in their respective areas to gather input/ideas, and campuswide participation in these efforts is greatly appreciated.
