AMA releases COVID-19 coding advice
The American Medical Association (AMA) is promoting several key coding resources that medical practices can use during the COVID-19 public health emergency.
This includes an ‘Outlines Coding Scenarios’ resource that is “designed to help health care professionals apply best coding practices. AMA says that, “The scenarios include telehealth services for all patients. Examples specifically related to COVID-19 testing include coding for when a patient: comes to the office for E/M visit, and is tested for COVID-19 during the visit; receives a telehealth visit re: COVID-19 and is directed to come to physician office or physician’s group practice site for testing; receives a virtual check-in/online visit re: COVID-19 (not related to E/M visit), and is directed to come to physician office for testing; and more.”
AMA has also developed a ‘CPT reporting for COVID-19 testing’ quick-reference flowchart.
And AMA has created a web page that outlines CMS payment policies and regulatory flexibilities related to COVID-19.
Physicians Foundation promoting telehealth resources

GCCN establishes fund to support free/charity clinics
The Georgia Charitable Care Network (GCCN) has established a ‘$30K in 30 Days’ GoFundMe campaign to support free and charity health care clinics in the state. The funds will be used to support the clinics with their technology needs and to obtain supplies.
The campaign website stresses that, “As the coronavirus sweeps through the United States, closing schools, businesses, and even government offices, the nation's free and charity clinics remain open for business. In Georgia, where nearly 100 of those clinics serve tens of thousands of low-income and uninsured patients annually, the need is severe and growing every day.”
