Population Trends
While our community continues to benefit from a large working-age population, the area is also experiencing growth among older residents. Adults ages 80 and older are now the county's fastest-growing age group, increasing at an annual rate of 4% between 2020 and 2025. Residents ages 65 to 79 also grew significantly, expanding by 3% annually over the same period.
Despite this trend, the Tallahassee Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) maintains a strong workforce foundation. Across the four-county area, 46% of residents are between the ages of 25 and 64, representing the region's prime working-age population. Another 36% are age 24 and younger, reflecting a robust pipeline of future workers supported by our local schools, colleges, and universities. Residents ages 65 and older account for the remaining 18% of the metro area's population.
