A MESSAGE FROM KENT OLIVER, LIBRARY DIRECTOR
Because you want to start a community garden.
Because learning doesn't end when school does.
Because a great library makes a great city.
There is always a "because" behind the causes we support. We devote our time and energy to the things that matter most to us. Your support of Nashville Public Library is no different.
The reasons you visit the library may be different from your friends' and neighbors'. But we all have this in common: every time someone uses NPL's resources and services, our library becomes a tool for democracy. Providing equal access to ideas and information empowers our community, one person at a time.
This week, Nashville Public Library and the Nashville Public Library Foundation released our 2017-2018 Annual Report, and I encourage you to check it out. In the report, we look back on the many ways NPL transforms Nashville – from traditional resources, such as books and workshops, to unexpected offerings like free seeds and ukulele checkouts. NPL empowers Nashvillians to learn, explore, and thrive according to their interests and dreams.
How does using your library transform you and your community? Share your story with us on social media with the hashtag #whyNPL.
