GETTING TO KNOW: NEW LIBRARY DIRECTOR CHERYL FISCHER
Professor Cheryl Kelly Fischer joined Loyola Law School over the summer as director of the william M. Rains Library. Previously, she spent 15 years at UCLA School of Law, where she taught Advanced Legal Research and served as the law library’s Head of Instructional Services. While at UCLA, she also taught legal research skills, supervised scores of faculty research assistants, and served as liaison to more than a dozen law reviews and journals. More>>

We've been keeping tabs on students' summer work as part of our annual Summer Job Diaries. With positions at organizations ranging from Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles to FX Networks, LLS students are gaining a broad range of experience. Reminders

LLS ID Cards Required for Campus Access

Effective today, Monday, August 23, LLS ID cards will be required to access campus and must be carried at all times while on campus. Card readers have been installed at all entrances, and the parking gates will be lowered. Parking continues to be free of charge to all students, staff and faculty until Oct. 1. If you have not picked up your LLS ID card, please pull a ticket upon arrival and bring it to the Information Center (students and staff) or Faculty Support (faculty) to receive a parking validation and pick up your ID card.

A Note About the Contact Tracing/Quarantining Process

Those with campus access must notify the COVID Support Team if they have received a lab-confirmed COVID positive test, they are symptomatic with COVID symptoms, or they learn they were exposed to a lab confirmed COVID positive case in the last 10 days, regardless of vaccination status. The COVID Support Team handles contact investigation and communication with positive or exposed individuals. In the event of a positive case, the team immediately initiates contact investigation and provides instructions for home isolation (and quarantine for those exposed). All those who are identified as a close contact (within 6 feet for a cumulative 15 minutes over a 24 hour period) will be notified by phone and by email, and provided with instructions for testing and quarantine as applicable and in accordance with L.A. County Public Health quarantine requirements. In support of the individual's privacy and in alignment with contact tracing protocol and best practices, the name or other identifying information of the positive case will not be disclosed to the close contacts. FERPA Training for Faculty & Staff Paused

The mandatory FERPA training for faculty and staff, which was shared via email on Saturday, Aug. 21, has been temporarily paused. The training will resume later in the fall semester; further instructions will be shared with the community regarding next steps as that time approaches. Thank you to all who were able to complete the training. Please note that your completion has been recorded. Please contact registrar@lmu.edu with any questions.
