Chef Archie Maclean's New Main Courses

Chef Archie has completely revamped our menu at Catharina's Restaurant. Archie has created a variety of main course options which are exciting, adventurous and are bound to create a memorable experience.
Why not book with us to try Archie's Sustainable Fish with horseradish and sour fig risotto, shaved fennel and radish salad, or his Pan-fried Crocodile Tail with crocodile brandade, creamed leek and roast garlic and corn salsa.
The Ostrich Fan Fillet with apple purée, parsley and preserved lemon barley, truffled apple salad, red onion and walnut vinaigrette is an absolute treat. Also, be sure to try the "Proudly South African" Grilled Zebra Loin, smoked aubergine maize meal, chakalaka, buttered baby marrow, chick peas and fine beans with pine nut and coriander dressing.

Our Next Red Wine Rendezvous at Bistro Sixteen82 

We have hosted two Red Wine Rendezvous events and they have been the most enjoyable evenings with delicious food, great wine and a wonderful atmosphere. We will be hosting our next evening on 21 July.  
Join us for 3 courses of generosity prepared by Chef Kerry Kilpin as well as a selection of Steenberg red wines. The menu features Creamy Broccoli and Blue Cheese Soup served with crusty homemade bread and spicy hummus, Slow Braised Lamb Neck with sun-dried tomato and basil risotto, sweet glazed carrots and tender greens. Cleanse your palate with a Yoghurt Panna Cotta with coconut ice cream and vanilla poached pear. 
The cost is R375 per person and includes a welcome drink, 3 course dinner with red wine and gratuity. Extras to be charged accordingly.

Wine Tasting in Winter

Don't let the cold weather keep you indoors this winter. Our Tasting Room offers one of the best wine tasting experiences in the Constantia Valley. Enjoy your wine tasting on the outdoor terrace and soak up the winter sun, relax near the fireplace in the lounge, or gather a group of friends around the tasting bar.
We are open from 10am to 6pm, Monday to Sunday and offer our Classic Tasting for R40 per person or our Flagship Tasting for R60 per person. Have a look at our website for more details.

Steenberg Spa Special for July

At Steenberg Spa, we have teamed up with Lara Delafield who is a respected and well-known Weight and Wellness Mentor. Lara offers Quantum Resonance Scans, Weight Management, One-on-one Coaching and Group & Corporate Wellness.
For the month of July, we are offering a Quantum Resonance Scan, performed by Lara, for the discounted price of R450 per person. Developed in the United States over the last 20 years, this health scanner is new to South Africa and has produced phenomenal results. Lara will perform the health scan and you will be able to see the equivalent of a full blood works and MRI scan without the expense and the needles. Lara will then offer lifestyle and dietary advice depending on your test results. This scan is safe for women at all stages of pregnancy.
Our Quantum Resonance Scan is offered on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11:00 - 14:00 from 1st - 31st July 2016.

Steenberg Honeybee Conservation

Our oak trees at Steenberg Hotel have recently become the home to a honeybee hive. We've sought the expertise of Dominique from The Honeybee Foundation & Products to create our very own apiary!

Dominique is in the process of finding the perfect space on our property which will fit 4 -5 bee hives. From this, our Chefs will have local honey to create delicious additions to our menus.

We will also be training a few members of staff to look after and handle the bee hives, thereby developing the skill set of our employees. This is going to be a fun and rewarding project and we can't wait to see the results!

If you have not seen her on one of your visits to our farm, then you have definitely seen her on Instagram. Miss Piggy belongs to our Farm Manager, Johann De Swardt and loves the attention she receives when she visits our guests. Here are a few of the snaps of her on Instagram.
