October is Global Diversity Awareness Month, a time to discover, recognize, and share the diversity in your lives and community year-round.

Filipino American History Month (FAHM) is celebrated in the United States during the month of October. In 1992, the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS) promoted this month to build understanding, education, enlightenment, appreciation, and enrichment of the history and culture of Filipino Americans in the United States. Filipino League at Seton Hall (FLASH) is a student organization whose main objective is to educate the community about Filipino culture.
- German-American Heritage Month celebrates German-American heritage and commemorates the founding of Germantown, Pennsylvania, in 1683.

Polish-American Heritage Month is a national Celebration of Polish History, Culture, and Pride. The Slavic Club aims to increase the awareness of the Slavic cultures, customs, and its people at Seton Hall University.

Italian-American Heritage and Culture Month is celebrated by proclamation of the President and Congress in the United States to honor the achievements and contributions of Italian immigrants and their descendants living in the United States, particularly in the arts, science, and culture. The Annual scholarship event for Italian Studies, followed by lecture by Matteo Brera, Marie Curie Visiting Fellow will take place on October 7. Arts & Sciences Speaker Series: Dr. Ashley Serrette (October 4, Fahy 129)
The Dean of A&S invites students of all majors to a free lunch in Fahy 129. Students will get the chance to learn about different job possibilities in the healthcare field, network, and improve career readiness. Hear from Dr. Serrette, a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Attending at Beth Israel Medical Center as she talks about leadership and how to use service to tackle challenges in the health field. The War in Ukraine: Is an Endgame in Sight? (October 10, Fahy 236)
Join us for a discussion about the current state of the war in Ukraine. Professors Nathaniel Knight, Ph.D., and Maxim Matusevich, Ph.D., from Seton Hall University will be joined by Columbia University political scientist Elise Giuliano, Ph.D., to discuss the current state of the war in Ukraine and the prospects for a resolution.

Flu/COVID Booster Vaccine Clinics

A Midsummer Night's Dream

Seton Hall Theatre Presents: A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare. A magical and humorous romp into the world of Shakespeare, this whimsical classic showcases the sillier side of romance. Tickets are free at the door or can be purchased for $5 on the SOPAC website.

October is the month of the Holy Rosary. Prayed in many languages, in many nations, by people of every race, the recitation of the Rosary unites Roman Catholics across the world as they honor the mother of Jesus and reflect on the mysteries of her Son's life.
- October 4: St. Francis Day is a feast day for St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment. It is celebrated by many Christian denominations.
- October 18 is the Feast day of St. Luke, gospel writer and patron saint of artists, owing to the Christian tradition that he painted a portrait of the Virgin Mary and Christ Child.
- October 28: Feast Day for Saint Jude and Saint Simon, the Apostles- Saint Jude, known as Thaddaeus, was a brother of Saint James the Less and a relative of Jesus. He was also one of the 12 Apostles.

October is LGBT History Month, an annual month-long observance of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender history, as well as the history of gay rights and related civil rights movements. It was founded in 1994 by Missouri high school history teacher Rodney Wilson.

October 2-4, Rosh Hashanah (Jewish) celebrates the Jewish New Year and is a time of introspection, abstinence, prayer and penitence. The story of Abraham is read, the ram's horn is sounded, and special foods are prepared and shared.

October 3, Navratri (Hindu)- This nine-day fast festival is one of the auspicious festivals of Hindus. Navratri is derived from two Sanskrit words; 'nava' means nine, and 'ratri' means night. Navratri holds different significance and is celebrated in different ways across India.

October 11-12, Yom Kippur (Jewish)- also known as the Jewish Day of Atonement, is the holiest day of the Jewish year. Many Jewish families and communities will spend the day fasting, attending synagogue, or observing the holiday in other meaningful ways. This offers a time of reflection.

October 16-23, Sukkot (Jewish)- Every fall, Jews around the world celebrate the festival of the Sukkot by constructing a temporary dwelling called a sukkah. The holiday commemorates the forty-year period during which the children of Israel were wandering in the desert, living in temporary shelters.
