Resumption of Baseline TB Testing

As most of you are aware, Dr Stout, TB Controller/Medical Director, issued a memo on April 13, 2020, regarding deferring baseline tuberculosis screening for new hires and residents upon admission to licensed nursing homes and adult care homes.

On September 25, 2020, Dr Stout issued another memo, stating: “At this time, the NC Tuberculosis Control Program recommends resuming required tuberculin skin testing or interferon gamma release assay testing for the following groups for whom it is required...” (including):

  • Staff of licensed nursing care homes or adult care homes upon employment, and
  • Residents upon admission to licensed nursing homes or adult care homes.

You can read the entire memo here.

Sincerely,
North Carolina Assisted Living Association
