Time Is Running Out to Submit Your Congress Legislation!

Let your ideas shine and leave your mark on the 2024 National Tournament when you submit your original legislation for the docket. Any NSDA member student, no matter your national qualification status, can directly submit your original legislation for the 2024 National Speech & Debate Tournament. Submissions are due by February 5, 2024. If selected you will receive:

• Recognition in Rostrum
• An award after the tournament
• A $100 scholarship 

Learn to Write and Perform Original Spoken Word Poetry

Join Kristy Thomas, writer and owner of Always Writing 4 U, and Noldine Belizaire, 2023 national champion, for an introduction to writing and performing Original Spoken Word Poetry on March 7, at 7:00 p.m. CT.

Ask Your Coach to Nominate You for the Student Leadership Council!

The Student Leadership Council (SLC) is composed of current high school members of the NSDA who provide feedback and recommendations throughout the year to ensure we are meeting students’ needs. Sharpen Your Skills in Springboard Scrimmages

Your team is invited to join fellow speech and debate students across the nation for a variety of free, after-school, online practice sessions through the Springboard Series. During these online scrimmages, there is one session of Congress and one round of speech and debate. Earn Your Spot at the National Tournament in the Last-Chance Qualifier!

The NSDA Last-Chance Qualifier is a no cost opportunity for students who did not qualify through their district tournament to have a chance to attend the 2024 National Tournament in Des Moines. Registration will open on January 8, 2024.

How Will You Celebrate National Speech and Debate Education Day?

National Speech and Debate Education Day (NSDE Day) is an annual celebration which honors, celebrates, and promotes the activity of scholastic speech and debate on the first Friday in March (March 1, 2024). We are thrilled to have a day dedicated to celebrating you, your team, and all you put into speech and debate. Download our NSDE Day poster, official logos, and graphics for your local celebration and find templates to contact your local media and legislators on our website.
