Ambassador Board Builds Community
In a normal year, the DLSNC Ambassador Board (AB) works to raise awareness about the school in the community, to assist with fundraising—including a summer silent auction, to help recruit Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) partners, and to provide current students and recent alumni with professional skills through avenues like “lunch and learns” and other career exploration discussions.
Just like everything else in the age of COVID, the AB had to retool on the fly to be effective in response to the changing needs of the DLSNC community. Over the last year, the AB has become a key part of helping to collect and assemble food boxes for the DLSNC food pantry. The AB also organized several virtual industry group panel discussions in the spring semester to help augment students' CWSP training curriculum.
Another key objective for the AB is to try and keep DLSNC’s amazing graduates connected to the DLSNC community once they’re no longer on campus, and so this past fall, the AB also assembled and sent care packages to the 2020 graduating class. And that's just the start.
We now have two amazing DLSNC alumni on the AB, and we hope we can continue to grow that number! Throughout this past year, we have been amazed—even more than usual—by the resiliency of DLSNC students, families, faculty, and staff, and continue to be grateful that we have the opportunity to lend a helping hand to this incredible community in whatever ways we can.
