Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month

National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed September 15 to October 15, and recognizes the achievements and contributions of Hispanic Americans who have inspired others to achieve success. Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, we'll be highlighting organizations, businesses and events contributing to and celebrating the diverse Hispanic and Latinx culture here in Tucson.

Tucson Hispanic Chamber

The Tucson Hispanic Chamber is the largest Latino business organization in the State of Arizona and one of the top ten Hispanic Chambers in the nation. The Tucson Hispanic Chamber and its affiliate chamber's mission is to advocate for and provide services that help grow its member businesses in the bilingual and bicultural region of the Arizona Mexico border.

Cinema Tucsón at the Fox

Mexican cinema continues to generate world-wide enthusiasm, and now we will be able to bring even more of it to the Tucson community! Cinema Tucsón will present films through an exciting format—monthly screenings (with some exceptions) throughout the year at the Fox Tucson Theatre, a new dedicated home for Mexican cinema. Roadrunners El Lazo de Tucson

Each week during Hispanic Heritage Month, the Roadrunners will be highlighting a Southern Arizona non-profit organization that positively impacts our community by hosting a Golden Ticket Raffle for a Roadrunners game made El Lazo jersey. Proceeds from each week’s event will then be donated to the featured organization. Learn More →

Campfire Cycling, 15 E Toole Ave.

Campfire Cycling's mission is to empower all Tucson cyclists and communities by making cycling and bikepacking more accessible. They do this through their Tucson bike shop, on Toole Avenue downtown, which specializes in bikepack outfitting. Their ecommerce business serves to share what they do beyond Tucson and allows for more stability and sustainability in their niche focused bike shop. They provide the specialty gear, knowledge and inspiration to thrive on your next biking adventure.

Watch now: Intersection at Stone and Toole reopens in downtown Tucson

The downtown intersection at North Stone Ave. and East Toole Ave./West Franklin Street has fully reopened following road work as the lengthy Downtown Links project continues in the area. Video courtesy of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility.

The intersection had partially reopened at the end of August as crews worked on phase three of the Downtown Links construction project that will connect Barraza-Aviation Parkway and Interstate 10. Tucson's Department of Transportation and Mobility announced the morning of Sept. 16, 2021 that the intersection is now open to traffic in all directions.
