Inspire Students to Follow The Road to Premier
When students join the NSDA, they embark down the road to Premier Distinction, the highest degree level in our Honor Society. Download a poster to highlight some of the stops they can make on their journey.
Explore or Share Student Scholarships
Speech and debate sets students apart in the college application process. Review or share our list of nearly 200 scholarships for students competing in speech and debate at the collegiate level.
One Month to the Activating Equity Award Deadline
Unlike many existing NSDA awards, which focus on the achievements of a single individual, the Activating Equity Award will be bestowed upon a group of adults and/or students for their collective actions over the years. If you know of a group, organization, or leadership team that is dedicated to enhancing a culture of equity in speech and debate, nominate them today!
Pitching and Structuring a Speech and Debate Class
Offering a speech and debate class can give your program stability, increase participation, and offer greater work/life balance. Our latest self-paced NSDA Learn course will help you prepare to advocate for a class. When you enroll online for free, you'll learn to:
- Showcase student and family interest.
Demonstrate how a class helps your school achieve its goals.
- Determine the positioning and structure of your course.
- Make a pitch incorporating data and student voices.
- Plan for the year ahead if your request is granted.
Prepare to adjust your pitch if your request is tabled.
Belonging and Inclusion Stations at District Tournaments
The NSDA does not tolerate harassment or discrimination and we take violations of this nature very seriously. To that end, we are encouraging district tournaments to offer a Belonging and Inclusion Station (BIS) for attendees. If you or someone from your team experiences harassment, discrimination, or bullying at a tournament, we encourage you to report it to the BIS or, if a tournament does not have a BIS, the tab room. Find more information about the BIS »
Find Judges for Your Tournament with the New Judge Board
Our new judge board is your hub for finding hired or volunteer judges! Help us fill the list of judges by signing up or sharing the board with your contacts. Use the page or save it to refer back to for online or in-person judges throughout the season. Select the plus button next to each judge to read their full details. You can search by state, graduation year, event preferences, and more.
Recognize Academic and Competitive Excellence
The prestigious Academic All American award recognizes high school students for academic and competitive success.
To be eligible, students must have:
- Earned the degree of Superior Distinction (750 points)
Completed at least 5 semesters of high school
- Demonstrated outstanding character and leadership
- Earned a GPA of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent)
Students who meet the points requirement are marked with a yellow box that says AAA? on your Student Roster. It's free and easy to submit a nomination, and the award makes an excellent addition to resumes or scholarship applications.
