District-Charter Collaboration News
December 2016
 FEATURED
Animosity between school districts and charter schools has been the norm since the nation’s first public charter school opened in 1992. In some cities, however, these deeply divided factions are now finding ways to come together to increase equitable access to schools; in a few cities, these partnerships have even helped to improve some of the schools themselves.

 OTHER RESEARCH
Five Keys Charter School in San Francisco is the nation’s only charter school embedded inside a city’s correctional system. Five Keys also has contracts to serve inmates in Los Angeles, Alameda, and Solano counties. These unique partnerships are featured in a report on how cities have become the drivers of government innovation.
