Longwood Reimagined Continues |
Our Longwood Reimagined project continues to advance each week! As you visit the Gardens you may notice that the glass walls and roof panels continue to be installed on the West Conservatory, with installation expected to be completed in April. In addition, almost 2,000 square feet of glass has been installed in the arched openings and three central arched doors that make up the beautiful façade of our new restaurant and event space. On the roof above, we are creating the steps for tiered seating from which to view the Main Fountain Garden, and creating the planting beds for an allée of Yellowwood trees. The trees will be planted in late April, marking the first outdoor planting of the project! Finally, on the south side of the West Conservatory we are placing six large (20,000 gallon) tanks that our part of our sustainable rainwater capture system for the site. The first two tanks are in place, with the remaining tanks scheduled to be moved into place over the next few weeks for burial. The tanks are part of our sustainable rainwater capture system that will allow us to reuse collected rainwater from the roof of the new West Conservatory and Administration Building for irrigation and gray water purposes. Two of the tanks will hold collected rainwater, which is then treated, filtered, and stored in three of the remaining tanks for irrigation purposes and one tank for holding gray water. We look forward to sharing more Longwood Reimagined milestones as we move closer to our projected fall 2024 completion.
