October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month!
YWCA has offered domestic violence advocacy services for over 35 years. Every October, as we raise awareness, share about our programs and services, and come together to support victims and survivors of domestic violence throughout the Tennessee Valley. Here's how you can get involved:
  • Join us on social media by posting the "DVAM hearts" on your social media feed or story. Let victims and survivors know that you believe them and are there to support them. Follow @YWCAKnoxville for updates.
  • Several local businesses are generously hosting percentage nights in honor of DVAM. Papa Murphy's Pizza, Belk and Moe's Southwest Grill are just a few businesses participating. Click HERE to see the full list.
  • Power and Control: Strategies to Address Domestic Violence webinar -- This webinar is hosted by child welfare/domestic violence liaisons in partnership with the Department of Children's Services. YWCA Advocate and DCS Liaison in Anderson County Elizabeth Vickers will be presenting. Register to attend the webinar, set for October 6 at 11:00 a.m., by clicking HERE
  • The Intersectionality of Domestic Violence and Race: A Conversation -- Join YWCA as we host ZaKiya Bell-Rogers on Wednesday, October 21 at 11:30 a.m. for a conversation about the intersectionality of domestic violence and racial justice. Register by clicking HERE
