Support the SHSU Annual Fund Campaign |
The SHSU Annual Fund Campaign is underway and runs through December 12! This annual initiative helps bridge the gap between tuition income and the true cost of education—allowing SHSU to meet critical needs such as student scholarships, equipment, technology, academic program enrichment, and faculty development.
The College of Humanities and Social Sciences has set a goal of 60% participation, and every gift counts—no matter the size. Your contribution can be directed to a specific scholarship, department, or program that’s meaningful to you. Not sure where to donate? Consider the Food Pantry, Bearkat Emergency Fund or CHSS Advisory Board Travel Scholarship.

Dr. Tze-Li Hsu Represents CHSS on Team Awarded 2025 BRIDGE 2.0 Center of Excellence Award |
"I am grateful for getting support from the 2025 BRIDGE 2.0 award at SHSU. The creation of an interdisciplinary aging-related research center is a timely and necessary response to address the growing needs of vulnerable population based on aging studies. It is my pleasure to work with scholars from different disciplines with special attention on advanced aging research. We hope to submit more external grant applications based on this award to start the Aging Research Collaborative (ARC) at SHSU. ARC is expecting to support faculties and students who are interested in aging research from different aspects. We hope more faculties and students can join the research team in ARC at SHSU."

| Dr. Ethan Morrow Awarded Franklin H. Knower Article Award from the National Communication Association |
"This was actually one of the first research projects that I started as a graduate student, so for it to be honored for its contribution to interpersonal communication is extremely gratifying. The paper examines the pressures mixed-citizenship romantic partners face due to immigration discourses and U.S. politics. My co-authors and I loved working on this paper and see it as a very timely piece with important social implications."

| Dr. Ben Park Awarded Phillip Schaff Prize from American Society of Church History |
"It's a genuine honor to receive the American Society of Church History's Phillip Schaff Prize, which is awarded to the best book published in the history of Christianity by a North American scholar. When I wrote the book, I aimed to make the story relevant to those outside the Latter-day Saint tradition, as well as to demonstrate how central religion is to understanding United States history. This recognition makes me feel that I have at least come close to that goal."
