The year of 2015 for the Asia Pacific region has been one of progress, growth and change. This has been reflected in a long list of major achievements for the Association, especially for this region
- Constant updates from the RBA on Next Generation Banknote
From late 2014 the Association has been working closely with the Reserve Bank of Australia in order to ensure an effective deployment of the Next Generation Banknote Programme, with respect to the needs of the ATM industry. In particular, throughout this year ATMIA has maintained close communication with the RBA, providing direct contact details to the relevant staff, allowing all stakeholders of the ATM industry that will be involved in these significant changes to be well informed and prepared of the adjustments associated with the introduction of new currency. The Reserve Bank has also become a regular fixture of our quarterly Government Relations teleconferences, providing regular updates to members of the issues facing the rollout of the programme; this will also continue into next year until the full completion of the Programme.
- Strong growth in membership numbers
In 2015 the Association in Asia Pacific grew its membership base by over 20%, allowing us to also grow as an engaged and relevant industry association that is able to advocate, represent and work for the interests of the ATM industry. In addition to strong growth in Australia, a significant number of new Indonesian members have also become members subsequent to the Jakarta conference, and the Association looks forward to working more closely with this region in the future.
- South East Asian conference
ATMIA together with the RBR hosted our 1st conference in Jakarta, with over 300 delegates attending the event, the success has now lead to ATMIA producing a regular SE Asian Newsletter to this region. During the course of the event issues discussed included: Crime and theft, the need for physical currency, technological developments and regional integration in areas of industry standards.
In 2015 members participation with our GRC’s teleconference has strengthened and I look forward to keep this momentum going next year.
ATMIA intends to hold a teleconference early in the New Year to discuss the industry issue on DC signage at ATMs-details (TBA). It must be emphasise that this is a RBA-lead initiative involving consultation with ATMIA and other industry bodies and stakeholders.
Next year, ATMIA will continue to work closely with the Law enforcement agencies, especially with the NSW Police Force as we strive to provide our members with vital criminal industry information.
A highlight for 2016 inevitably will be our ATMs in Australia event on 10th & 11th August at The Grace Hotel. At this point, I would like to invite any potential speakers to this event to submit your proposal on related topics of interest to members, industry colleagues and conference attendees to
Sandra.Smith@atmia.com. We do request that any vendors wanting to present at this event need to support the programme by taking either a booth or a sponsorship.
Finally, I would like to thank-you all for your continual support this year and I wish you all a Merry Xmas & Happy New Year.
Warm Regards
Sandra
