The Seton Hall College of Nursing Newsletter - Fall 2024 |
As another fall semester draws to a close at the College of Nursing, I am truly honored and blessed to continue serving as Interim Dean and to be part of the amazing CON team which leads our undergraduate and graduate nursing students as they prepare to start or continue their professional careers.
|
I am proud to share that three of our faculty were promoted at the start of this semester: Dr. Nancy Innella and Dr. Katherine Hinic were promoted to associate professor with tenure, and Dr. Mary Ellen Roberts was promoted to full professor. We also welcomed two new faculty members to the CON: Dr. Caroline Meza, PhD, RN, and Kathryn Tarpey Balsamo, MSN, RN. Caroline, one of our PhD graduates, has joined the undergraduate department, while Kate, a graduate of our post certificate MSN program, is now part of the graduate department, working in the PMHNP program.

As you’ll read in this newsletter, Seton Hall University’s College of Nursing ranks among the top 17 percent of all undergraduate nursing programs nationwide, according to the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings, reaffirming its status as a top-tier Bachelor of Nursing program. In graduate department news, the Family Nurse Practitioner program welcomed its first cohort this fall, serving a true need in the nursing profession.
|
The CON celebrated its grant and clinical partners, announcing new incentives for its preceptor community at the inaugural Preceptor Appreciation Dinner on Sept. 26 at the University’s South Orange campus. The event honored nursing professionals and community partners for their roles in mentoring Seton Hall nursing students and providing impactful clinical experiences.
|
Our faculty and administrators continue to achieve national and international recognition, which makes us very proud. Under the direction of principal investigator Dr. Kathleen Neville, the HRSA grant between the CON, SHMS and HMH concluded with a keynote address by Dr. Rahul Gupta, director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, at a virtual forum on substance use disorders for 300 educators and students.

I would like to wish all of you a wonderful and blessed holiday season. Keep in touch so we can celebrate your accomplishments with you, our True Blue Nurses!

Basic Health Assessment Refresher Course (Online)
January 1, 2025 to March 31, 2025
Seton Hall University’s Basic Health Assessment Refresher online course provides an opportunity for registered nurses to further develop and hone basic health assessment skills prior to beginning an advanced health assessment course. Students will learn how to complete a head-to-toe physical assessment in a systematic manner by demonstrating the skills and techniques on their mentor. Although you may complete this program at your own pace and time, you will have up to 5.5 weeks to complete the course to be awarded contact hours.
