ATMIA Canada Newsletter
Hello Canada ATMIA Members,

I am very happy to confirm the dates for our 2020 Canada event in Vancouver as April 7th - 8th. This will be the premier ATM event in Canada. It’s now time to put our Vancouver event into your 2020 travel budget, with its theme of “Advancing the ATM into the Next Generation, Together”.

We have many goals between now and the end of the year, with the most important being our Advocacy Activities and Funding Contributions. One fair way to calculate this would be around $5.00 per deployed machine so that we can act on behalf of the industry and prevent negative media attention from dominating. To drill down on the last few monthly reports of Hill & Knowlton, click here to get a great idea what your contributions are used for.

Smash & Grab in Canada. This type of physical attack is where the bad guys put a rope or chain around the ATM and pull it off the machine`s base. It is then taken to a remote location to remove any cash. Unfortunately, this type of theft is still very active in our geography from ocean to ocean.

On the Cannabis front. Although approved at the federal level, there are several municipalities which continue to struggle with their distribution channels. We will be staying out in front of this issue and share progress with all members.

I am pleased with our renewed Memberships to date:

Federation Desjardins - Renewal Associate Level
TNS Smart Network - Renewal Board Level
Exchange Network - Renewal Board Level
Royal Bank - Renewal Board Level
Paper Dimensions - Renewal Small Business
Tibbs Management - New Member
Marsh Canada - New Member Board Level
Fast Funds - Renewal Small Business
Touch Cash - Renewal Associate

I would like to hear from anyone who has good ideas for increasing membership. You are welcome to simply give me a digital introduction and I will take it from that point onwards. Don`t leave your industry colleagues out in the cold. We are one industry which rises or falls together.

Best regards to all,

Curt Binns,
Executive Director, ATMIA Canada

The Role of Cash and Bank Branches in Keeping Small Businesses Thriving
Business Secretary Greg Clark’s recent inaugural Business Council meeting for Small Businesses highlighted that small companies represent an overwhelming majority of the businesses in the UK.

Given how important these businesses are for our economy, it’s clear more should be done to enable them to grow. Access to cash and bank branches is vital in enabling small businesses to thrive, the main three reasons being consumer demand, costs associated with card payment facilities and the services bank branches offer. Top 6 Reasons Why Using Cash-Only Rocks

While I am a cash-only person by circumstance (paid off the credit cards and never reopened accounts), I am so grateful that I live in a cash world. Of course, having only cash is not always convenient and does occasionally make it difficult to rent a car — but overall I am so happy to no longer be a slave to the credit card industry and the high interest rates that are overwhelming so many people around the nation. There are also so very good reasons why using only cash is completely logical. Here are my top 6 reasons why using cash-only rocks. Member of the Month

Newer Technologies Limited was founded in 2003 by Ryan Pickering who has been in the ATM industry since it was deregulated in the late 1990's. Newer has grown organically and has found success in working with ISO Partners as well as having direct ATM locations. With our resources we are able to help our ISO's with wholesale purchases of ATM's, a menu of available help to management of their networks, first and second line service of their ATM's, parts stocking and repair and when requested support for their clients and even cardholders. We have prided ourselves in taking care of our ISO's networks with the same fury and intensity that we take care of our own direct ATM locations. We are also able to provide leasing, cash loading and armoured courier services to all our ISO's and direct customers.

NTL's head office is located in the Tri-City region of Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge. However, you can find our ATM's and ISO Partners all across Canada.   From Coast to Coast.

Ryan Pickering: President, although Ryan is more of a GSM. He is the oil that makes the machine run smoothly. Ryan places a high priority on keeping everyone happy and making sure everyone is giving 100% every day. The success of NTL is due to constant attention to detail and ensuring everyone has what they need at all times to handle any situation that could arise.

Newer Technologies Limited is a leader in service, support and management of its entire network. We believe the ATM machine should not ever be on the Merchants mind.
