FOR THE BIRDS  Cooper's hawks are year-round residents of the Pacific Northwest, nesting in wooded areas that give them a sense of security. Earlier this year, the President's Woods on campus was home to two Cooper's hawks, like those pictured, frequently spotted by Peter Wimberger, director of the Slater Museum of Natural History. We never managed to snap photos of those two, so Peter gave us an up-close view of two of the Cooper’s hawks that are part of the museum’s current bird collection, which includes 23,000 specimens.
