Last spring we received nominations for eleven amazing educators throughout our region to serve as our 2022-23 Teacher of the Year. We are excited to share that Chelsea Brannock of the Wahluke School District has been selected as our ESD 105 Teacher of the Year for 2022-2023!
Ms. Brannock is an advocate for students. As an English language arts teacher at Wahluke High School, she understands the power of having a strong voice. In her daily work, she empowers students to find, use and unleash their own potential through the strong student-centered opportunities she provides. She also understands that academic success comes when students feel safe. At the foundation of Ms. Brannock’s practice is her ability to foster relationships within her school community based on inclusion, equity and mutual respect. She truly believes all students are capable of reaching their highest potential when they are challenged with high expectations and supported with the resources they need to be successful.
“Wanting kids to succeed and knowing how to support them is different.” Very eloquently and authentically stated by our regional Teacher of the Year, Ms. Brannock understands that supporting each other as educators through collaboration is the key to student success....

2022-23 Regional Teacher of the Year Nominees |
As part of our new ESD 105 Live Here Work Here program, we encourage students to explore local industry and support them by providing mentorships, internship training, and connections with individuals in these fields.
This summer, we hired six interns from YV Tech's Entertainment Media Production class to showcase area industries in our valley for middle and high school students. All of the filming and editing of these spotlight videos was completed by our student interns. So far, they have filmed segments for HLA Engineering and Land Surveying, Van Doren Sales, Pexco Aerospace, Kwik Lok, Tree Top and Patriot Manufacturing. Take a peek at their work below.... we think you'll be just as impressed as us!

On Friday, August 12th, our Migrant Education Program welcomed migrant students from across our region, along with their parents, to Heritage University for an in-pereson celebration of the completion of their 2-day Rising Together/Creciendo Juntos Virtual Conference.
Over 130 students from ten districts including Yakima, Selah, Toppenish, Grandview, Sunnyside, Wahluke, East Valley, Wapato, Ellensburg, and Naches Valley, attended the virtual conference. This opportunity aimed to leave students inspired and prepared for leadership opportunities that enable civic engagement, create healthy communities, and establish ongoing networks of support for postsecondary success and successful future endeavors.
One of the highlights of this programming was a film interview with Yahritza Y Su Ecencia: A musical group from Yakima comprised of 3 siblings, Yahritza, Jairo, and Armando; who just one year ago were working in the field with their parents like many of our migrant students do every summer. They went from showcasing their talent on Tik Tok to skyrocketing up the music charts and debuting at #1 on Apple Music with their single “Soy El Unico”.
We want to thank our community partners who made this event possible, including Heritage University, Latino Community Fund and the over 15 vendors who attended our in-person celebration. #105BetterTogether
